Hillary, McCain Campaign in New Jersey
The candidates for New Jersey governor called in two of the nation's most prominent senators Friday to help rally support as polls showed the race tight with less than three weeks to go.
Democratic nominee Jon Corzine appeared alongside New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Republican contender Doug Forrester brought in Arizona Sen. John McCain.
Clinton addressed a crowd of 1,500 women, telling them Corzine has "the best combination for public service: He has a great mind, big heart."
Clinton said she got to know Corzine when both were new to the Senate in the first years of the Bush administration.
"John and I stood together as they tried to roll back the rights of Americans and particularly the rights of women," Clinton said. "He was a strong, staunch ally."
McCain, speaking to about 200 Republican Party faithful at a community college in Middletown, said Forrester can restore "faith and confidence and integrity in the Statehouse of New Jersey."
Recent polls show the race as either about even or with Corzine holding an apparent lead.
Both candidates are financing most of their own campaigns, spending a combined $45 million as of Oct. 11.
Corzine, 58, is a first-term senator and former CEO of the Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs. Forrester, 52, is a former mayor and the co-owner of a prescription-benefits company.
Thank God. Two people I know not to vote for. Tell them thank you.
It's the ULTIMATE bird brain flu in one stae!
"John and I stood together as they tried to roll up the rights of Americans, and especially the rights of women"...
huh, dang----I do NOT remember that....can anyone explain when that was...and how THAT happened.
I am a woman, and I don't remember any of my rights being touched, let alone rolled up....unless you want to talk about my right to believe that there are no terrorists!!
That quote of Clinton is regarding PBO, I bet.
Heil Hitlery!
clinton, clinton, uber alles...
As far as I am concerned...any woman that even goes for a partial birth abortion should be arrested for attempted murder...and if she accomplishes it...murder..
Did'nt you know that there needs to be a mothers' health exception in the law? </s>
The only choice they GOT in Jersey are TWO liberals.
Sure, Forrester might me more fiscally responsible than Corzine - but not by much.
He has Tom Kean of 9-11 infamy running commericals on TV for him saying vote for Forrester - he's a "moderate" and will protect a woman's right to choose.
Forrester ALSO is being supported by Lewis Eisenberg
of the liberal Republican PAC fame.
If you live in Jersey - don't vote for Corzine - it will boost DemocRat numbers.
Don't vote for Forrester either. If by some chance he DOES get in, the liberal RINO snakes in the Jersey Republican Party like Tom Kean and Chrissie Whitman who stabbed Schundler in the back, will say "See, only a moderate can win in Jersey"
If you live in Jersey, vote for an independent third party conservative as a protest vote - and hope and pray the Corzine beats Forrester.
Maybe next time around smart-mouthed Tom Kean and his buddies won't be so quick to back a social liberal - but I doubt it.
Statements like that are a perfect example of why I think she has zero chance of ever being president.
That headline isn't a suprise but it still makes me shudder. These two are seen together ALL the time. I think I'm gonna be sick....excuse me...ralph alert!!
The headline could be a precursor to 2008..
"The headline could be a precursor to 2008.."
NO WAY!
Shoot....just the fact that McCain is campaigning for him is bad enough...but Tom Kean is worse...
He made the 9/11 Commission a joke...along with his other buddies...
What do you want to bet that Hill and McCain got together after New Jersey and had a good laugh...
After reading the article yesterday about how Hillary and her husband treated the candidate for mayor of New York, Ferrer.....I was just sick of even thinking about those two...blech.
I always wondered when they would get married.
McCain is trying to set up his ducks for a run in 2008 - God help us. So is Hitlery.
I fear for my country.
Has anyone done a poll to see how New York likes it when its senator travels to the other 49 states in order to do whatever it is she's doing, in leau of being the Senator from New York?
You gotta be kidding.
McPain will NOT win the nomination on the Republican side.
He may go 3rd party to screw the Republicans. I won't put it past him. He is a snake.
LOL!! They make a great couple.
