This "Letter of Apology" was written by Lieutenant General Chuck Pitman, US Marine Corps, Retired:
For good and ill, the Iraqi prisoner abuse mess will remain an issue. On the one hand, right thinking Americans will abhor the stupidity of the actions while on the other hand, political glee will take control and fashion this minor event into some modern day massacre.
I humbly offer my opinion here:
I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims (Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.).
I am sorry that no such call for an apology upon the extremists came after 9/11.
I am sorry that all of the murderers on 9/11 were Islamic Arabs.
I am sorry that most Arabs and Muslims have to live in squalor under savage dictatorships.
I am sorry that their leaders squander their wealth.
I am sorry that their governments breed hate for the US in their religious schools, mosques, and government-controlled media.
I am sorry that Yassar Arafat was kicked out of every Arab country and high-jacked the Palestinian "cause."
I am sorry that no other Arab country will take in or offer more than a token amount of financial help to those same Palestinians.
I am sorry that the USA has to step in and be the biggest financial supporter of poverty stricken Arabs while the insanely wealthy Arabs blame the USA for all their problems.
I am sorry that our own left wing, our media, and our own brainwashed masses do not understand any of this (from the misleading vocal elements of our society like radical professors, CNN and the NY TIMES).
I am sorry the United Nations scammed the poor people of Iraq out of the "food for oil" money so they could get rich while the common folk suffered.
I am sorry that some Arab governments pay the families of homicide bombers upon their death.
I am sorry that those same bombers are brainwashed thinking they will receive 72 virgins in "paradise."
I am sorry that the homicide bombers think pregnant women, babies, children, the elderly and other noncombatant civilians are legitimate targets.
I am sorry that our troops die to free more Arabs from the gang rape rooms and the filling of mass graves of dissidents of their own making.
I am sorry that Muslim extremists have killed more Arabs than any other group.
I am sorry that foreign trained terrorists are trying to seize control of Iraq and return it to a terrorist state.
I am sorry we don't drop a few dozen Daisy cutters on Fallujah.
I am sorry every time terrorists hide they find a convenient "Holy Site."
I am sorry they didn't apologize for driving a jet into the World Trade Center that collapsed and severely damaged Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church - one of our Holy Sites.
I am sorry they didn't apologize for flight 93 and 175, the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, the murders and beheadings of Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl, etc....etc!
I am sorry Michael Moore is American; he could feed a medium sized village in Africa.
America will get past this latest absurdity. We will punish those responsible because that is what we do.
We hang out our dirty laundry for the entire world to see. We move on. That's one of the reasons we are hated so much. We don't hide this stuff like all those Arab countries that are now demanding an apology.
Deep down inside, when most Americans saw this reported in the news, we were like - so what? We lost hundreds and made fun of a few prisoners. Sure, it was wrong, sure, it dramatically hurts our cause, but until captured we were trying to kill these same prisoners. Now we're supposed to wring our hands because a few were humiliated?
Our compassion is tempered with the vivid memories of our own people killed, mutilated and burnt amongst a joyous crowd of celebrating Fallujahans.
If you want an apology from this American, you're going to have a long wait! You have a better chance of finding those seventy-two virgins.
Chuck Pitman Lieutenant General, USMC (Ret)

Perhaps we should send a copy to Murtha and show him how a real Marine acts.

Better Yet, send it to Jean Schmitt to read on the floor of the House. That would really get them stirred up.

I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims (Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.).
AND what did it get us. More moslem terror against the USA. Yet, here we go again, trying to help moslems rebuild one of their countries - into another moslem country. Will we ever learn. Its ISLAM that is the problem. No use rebuilding a country if you build on a foundation of a hateful religion like ISLAM.
Just look at what we are getting in the final product:
- a Prime Minister (Jaafari) who will establish Sharia Law
- a Prime Minister who is a member of a terrorist political party, DAWA, that has bombed American Embassies.
- a Prime Minister who has laid a wreath at Iran's Ayatollahs tomb.
- a Foreign Minister who states he will oppose any attacks against Iran...by the USA from Iraq.
- a President .......who states he will oppose any attacks against Syria..by the USA from Iraq.
- a Constitution that mandates ISLAM as the state religion
- a Constitution that states NO LAW SHALL CONTRADICT ISLAM
- a Constitution w/ a Supreme Court full of"Islamic Experts"
- an Iraqi National Leadership which just finished stating in Cairo that the Sunni insurgency was legitimate! Demanding that more prisoners be released and putting curbs on our troops ability to raid and capture the enemy.
- an Iraq that terrorist sponsoring Iran loves: "Iran is proud of Iraq's progress, security, independence and national strength and there is no limit on the development of cooperation with Iraq," Iranian Supreme Leader Seyed Ali Khamenei was quoted as saying at a meeting with visiting Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.
When we started this in 2003, is this what we envisioned as Iraqi freedom?
Not me - its more like Iraqi Islam. And after 9/11 I am not a supporter of anything Islamic.
Islam is the enemy. If the Iraqis want OUR Billions and OUR BLOOD, they need to do things OUR way. Letting them continue with their insane Islamic slavery is not worth our troops fighting for. We didn't let the Germans keep their insane Nazism nor the Japanese keep their insane Tojoism, why do we let the moslems keep their insane moHAMidism?
If the secularist gain control on Dec 15, there might be a very slight chance to change the Constitution's Islamic veto clauses and replace its Leaders, but only a slight chance. I favor complying with the Cairo meeting's Iraqi wishes of a pullout and letting them fight a bloody civil war, then when they beg us for help again, they will understand why Islam should be left out and back in the 7th century.

Good post. I went to Wikipedia and read a summary of the Constitution after reading your post. As badly as the left has twisted our Constitution I can sure see many ambiguities and areas for interpretation theirs.
The biggest problem I see is that they may eventually, perhaps soon, democratically elect leaders that will make them like Iran. Your fears are real and I share them. Anytime a country has an official religion you have another area of wide interpretation which influences the direction of the government.
Maybe your civil war scenario is the best outcome.

POWERFULL
" I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims (Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.). "
These muslims hate us, want us dead, and yet both Dem's and Republicans want to sacrifice our boys to give them aid.
It's time for the Constitution Party.

Content is dead on but this letter sounds like an urban legend to me. Snopes is researching it.

It's time for the Constitution Party.Unless there is an angle I am not seeing, this seems in conflict with your tagline. The best way to assure a Hillary presidency and have Slick Willie at the U.N. is to split the Republican Party. Since this comment has nothing to do with the point of the thread I doubt your bono fides as a conservative.

RINO Bush has spent so much money that he makes Slick Willie look like an amateur! And his drug program hasnt even started yet. And Im not even referring to all the money he is spending to rebuild Muslim Iraq.
He has Ted Kennedy write the education bill, he stomps on the first amendment, he is trying his hardest to create a Palestinian state, at the expense of Israel.
Sure he will throw us a conservative SCOTUS nominee if we whine enough, but that may be the only difference between him and Hillary.
I doubt your bono fides as a conservative.
Yes I voted for the Constitution Party instead of RINO Bush last election. If some real conservatives would have some backbone, maybe the Republicans would take notice and start giving us some real conservatives to vote for.

Your plan gave us Ross Perot and Bill Clinton. No Thanks!! Hillary is an enemy of this country and would do things that would make your complaints pale into nothingness, just as her husband did.
