Did you read the whole article? The point is that women are beginning to travel in order to obtain abortions that are more difficult to get at home. They go back to their red states once they have traveled to New York.

It says that less than 2% are out of towners. Your confusion is generated by speculation by the NARAL witches that out-of-towners "might" increase in the future, which of course is reported as fact by the article.

Actually the article states only 2% are from out of town. The argument that the increase in number of abortions is because of out-of-towners is misleading.

My sister's friend traveled to get an abortion her first year in college. We are from a small own and she traveled to the city for anonymity. I am sure that is the main reason people travel to NY. It is easy to tell mom and dad you are going to the city to see a show and instead get an abortion. IMO.

Can you do math? The number of out of state abortions increased from .5% to .7% of abortions (or from .2 to .33 of total pregnancies). This is hardly the driving number in the 40% figure.

The media is just trying to put a spin on it, attributing the increase to out-of-town women, and you fell for it, hook line and sinker.

Oh, nevermind. Reading the rest of your posts, it is quite clear that you want to be fooled. No use arguing with somebody who wants to be wrong.

That conclusion is not supported by any facts ~ it's a supposition the Guttmacher people have come up with to shore up their claim that it's Evangelicals and Catholics who are getting all the abortions.

They go back to their red states once they have traveled to New York.

It is doubtful many women travel all the way from a red state to NYC for an abortion. More likely is women from surrounding suburbs and exurbs, and from neighboring states like Connecticut, who seek anonymity in the big city.

Gotta watch those lying anonymous media "experts."

Well, that's nice. They can get in some shopping and see a play in NYC while they dispose of the defenseless child.

1. A disproportionate number of folks who have abortions are "people of color" who typically vote Democratic. The statistics are available through any google search.

2. White folk in red states have higher birthrates than white folk in blue states. Religious white folk tend to have considerably less abortions than the non-religious of any race.

Why do you suggest this is a case of "red states" versus New York, "blue states."

You're missing the actual facts, additionally, of the story itself. Two percent of abortions being conducted on those from "out of state" could refer to people from Brazil, Tijera Del Fuego, London or wherever.

What states make abortions hard to get?

Red or Blue state... this means nothing. A person of principle won't do it. I used to counsel young women... one gal had a "gang rape" baby....

Gasp!

She was quite happy... many other gals, especially the Catholic gals, would be prep'ed to murder if someone mentioned or suggested they get an abortion.

The stupid and unprincipled masses can do as they please.

Btw, I'm have a blast today... and I don't think that other person woke up on the wrong side of the bed.... [rolls eyes]

I can't even quip... please come up with something better.

Cheers ... uh.. to stupid people getting abortions

People have always "traveled" to get abortions. But, as the AMA discovered a hundred years ago, many "respectable" physicians performed abortions for their best patients, so very often they had to go no further than their family doctor's office. However it remained a dangerous procedure until the invention of penicillin in the 1940s. Antibiotics did not become readily available to the public until after WWII.
