H.S. Students Protest Proposed Immigration Bill [Los Angeles and Phoenix]

CBS) HUNTINGTON PARK, Calif. Some 150 Huntington Park High School students left their classrooms and are marching east along Firestone Boulevard in South Gate to protest an immigration bill due before Congress on Monday.

About 9 a.m., students walked out of the school in the 6000 block of Miles Avenue.

Friday’s march comes a day before a larger rally planned in L.A. tomorrow, when immigrant-rights groups will gather to protest the legislation of HR 4427.

The bill seeks to build more walls along the U.S.-Mexico border and make helping illegal immigrants a criminal offense.

Opponents of the measure have called it racist and said it would penalize legal immigrants for associating with "illegals."

Protests also in Phoenix. The students have taken over the streets, no permits, etc., waving Mexican flags. See the video in the link.

Reporters are giving sympathetic interviews, giving their anti-H.R. 4437 propaganda a voice.

Gee, I wonder who put them up to this. Normally if you leave school without permission they call the cops :-)

Doesn't it just warm the heart to see that the illegals are so unabashed about their status that they feel no threat whatsoever while protesting in our streets?

Gosh it's great. Thanks Jorge and our worthless politicians!

"immigrant-rights groups "

A typo. It is supposed to read "illegal-immigrants rights groups. "

Students and others have taken to the streets in south Los Angeles, waving Mexican flags, in "protest" of H.R. 4437, the Sensenbrenner immigration bill.

Will we fight for it?

Yeah, sure, they all just got up and left the class rooms.

Their "teachers" probably wrote the protest signs for them.

The illegal aliens and the criminals who hire them and the criminals who harbor them are getting out in the street making their desires known. It is way past time those of us who support the rule of law and secure borders did the same.

Join Veterans for Secure Borders, The Minuteman Project, Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, and other groups protesting amnesty for these criminals, and demanding the government protect our borders.

FReepers should be at this rally in strength.

The students don't care one way or the other. It's just another excuse to get out of class. When I was in high school, kids came up with bogus causes all the time in order to have an excuse to skip. Funerals were also a favorite----anytime a student committed suicide because they had no friends, suddenly e every kid in the school was their friend, skipping class on the day of the funeral.

I'm sorry! I should have stated that the large protest, ~10,000 was downtown Phoenix.
