Excerpt -

ST. LOUIS —

A federal judge on Monday halted executions in Missouri until the state makes sweeping changes to ensure that inmates do not suffer excruciating pain when they are put to death.

U.S. District Judge Fernando Gaitan Jr. cited "numerous problems" with the state's lethal injections, including a lack of a written protocol setting drug levels and a dyslexic doctor who is in charge of mixing the three drugs used.

Simply replace the doctor with an executioner who silently slips up behind the condemned killer and smacks him with a D-handle shovel.

He won't know what hit him.

Why both with a written protocol if your doctor is dyslexic?

Looking at the writing on some prescriptions, I suspect a lot of Drs. are dyslexic ;-)

Who cares if some thug suffers? They should be executed in the same manner in which they have killed.

I am sure there are some of the Socially Conservative Christians here on FR who oppose the death penalty.
I am not insulting them or their beliefs, mind you.

Make that "why bother with a written protocol if your Dr. is dyslexic anyway?"

"...ensure that inmates do not suffer excruciating pain..."

Heroin would be just fine, then......they will slowly and painlessly turn blue, after slowly and painlessly attaining unconsciousness.

I don't care if any thug suffers. I'm just wondering why a dyslexic doctor would be the reason to stop executions?

Seems pretty silly to me for anyone to wring their hands over the possibility that the execution causes pain....just nonsensical.

4. Perform autopsy
3. Administer overdose of heart-stopping drug
2. Administer overdose of muscle relaxant
1. Administer overdose of sedative

Who cares if he's dyslexic and gets the order mixed up, as long as he carries out all the steps???

On a more serious note... The judge's fear that a dyslexic doctor might supervise during the execution is absolutely ludicrous and shows that he has a very, very superficial understanding of dyslexia -- and probably English, too.

I recommend a .44 right between the eyes. Quick, efficient, cheap, effective, and painless.
