Kevin Costner has waded into the debate about controversial new movie Death Of A President, insisting director Gabriel Range failed to consider how George W Bush's family would react to scenes of the US President being assassinated.
The Dances With Wolves star was caught up in the controversy at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada at the weekend, where he premiered his new film, The Guardian, alongside the screening of Death of A President.
Movie fans reportedly sat in stunned silence at the end of Range's screening, which featured doctored images of Bush getting shot, and Costner, who wasn't in the audience, isn't happy with what he's heard about the film.
He says, "It's awfully hard if you're his children, his wife, his mother, his dad; there's a certain thing we can't lose as human beings, which is empathy for maybe the hardest job in the world.
"Whether we think it's being performed right or not we can't, like, wish... or think that's even cute."
Of course, in the next few days I'll expect the usual bile from the regular Hollyweird crowd, but this one surprised me.
This is not the only time though that the moonbats have talked about assassinating the President. This has been going on for some time. Michelle Malkins book "Unhinged" illustrates in depth a bit more about how far down the moonbats have sunk. This movie is just the tip of the iceberg.
I am surprised. He must have a shortage of bile and venom and knows that the DUmmies will supply it in great quantities once this hits the DUmp and other left wing hate sites.
Good on Kevin Costner. Good on him! He's right.

Does not change my mind on what a horrible actor he is. I wasted 3 hours that I will never get back on Waterworld and will never see another of his films. I don't care is he begins to march in Armed Forces parades it won't change my mind.
Kevin Costnermakes some excellent points. One is that we need to have some empathy for men in extremely difficult jobs. The ugly, take no prisoners rhetoric one often hears directed at President Bush, Secretary of State Rumsfeld and others is not helpful or productive. It is name calling.
Depicting the murder of any man seems a denial of normal human dignity and decorum.

Lauer seemed to have an aggressive, even badgering tone with the president as the two stood in the Oval Office discussion 9/11 and other issues of the day. Lauer reputedly gestured in an aggressive way, almost sticking his finger in the president’s chest.

I guess Kevin Costner figured out who no longer goes to the movies.
(Some) DU Democrats will cheer this film. Another bad move in a string of bad moves that will show that they overplayed their hand.
Waterworld rightfully tanked, but I think his performance in "The Postman" was right on - and it was pretty close to the book.
"Upside of Anger" is a fine film by Costner. Came out 2 years ago. Funny!
Good for Costner. It's good to see some human decency.

I've always loved Kevin Costner. At least there are a few humans still in Hollyweird, amongst all the demonic lefties. Unfortunately, he and others like him are a slim minority there.
If nothing else, Costner's common sense and compassion extends to one of (the left's) most hated men. I don't know what his politics are (don't really care at the moment), I applaud him for having the fortitude to take a stand on this issue.
