Police in Gaffney are searching for a man who they say grabbed a six-year-old girl and took off with her in his car trunk before releasing her a short time later.
Gaffney detectives said that at about sunset Thursday, Tamia Adams was playing with other children near the Limestone Court apartment complex at 940 N. Limestone Court when the man grabbed her and threw her in the trunk of the car. Witnesses said Tamia was screaming for her mother as the man tossed her into the truck and took off heading south. A little girl who was playing with Tamia told the child's mother what happened. Tamia's mother, Juanita Adams, said, "She was so frantic and crying, you know, just crying. The little girl was just upset. We really couldn't make out what she was saying, but she said it real loud, 'Somebody put Mia in the trunk of a car and took off!'" Police said that about 10 minutes later, the man pulled over at the Pilot Travel Center at exit 90 off Interstate 85. The girl said he opened the trunk and asked her name and age and then said, ?I?ve got the wrong girl.? The child said her abductor then told her to walk to the convenience store to find a ride home. The man is described as a heavy-set man with a beard and mustache. He was wearing camouflage trousers and hat. He was driving a blue four-door mid-size car with South Carolina plates with a No. 3 in the tag number. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police. Tamia was back in school Friday -- at her own request.
BE ON THE LOOKOUT YA'LL.
THE BEACON FOREVER!!
MMMMMMMMM....CHILI CHEESE....
MOVE IT ON DOWN!!!!!!!
Wrong kid??? I'm glad the child is safe but this sounds like a drug or gambling deal payback.
Sounds like a Daddy paying somebody to kidnap baby back.....and the kidnapper wasn't paying attention to Daddies instructions...
That's what I was thinking.
Ah yes, THE Beacon! Thanks for bringing up wonderful memories...been awhile since I was there (college 20 years ago), but the onion rings are still fresh in my mind!
He might have been after the other little girl.
Worthless clue, if I ever saw one.
Considering it probably came from her friend who saw the truck and could only remember "three" we take what we can get.
You're right.
I live in N. Pekin, Illinois.
