Tough Luck, Hillary
New York Post ^ | January 18, 2008 | Geoff Earle

A federal court yesterday dealt a bad hand to Hillary Rodham Clinton, smacking down an effort to stop Nevadans from caucusing at Las Vegas casinos like Caesars Palace and the Flamingo hotel.

The Nevada teachers union, which has strong ties to Clinton, sued with other plaintiffs in Las Vegas this week to halt an effort to let casino cooks, maids and card dealers caucus at nine downtown casino sites.

The effort to create "at large" precincts - backed by the state Democratic Party - was aimed at getting more low-wage workers to participate in the election process.

Clinton and Barack Obama are running neck and neck in Nevada, which holds its caucuses tomorrow.

Although the casino plan passed unanimously when the state party approved it in March, the Nevada State Education Association and people tied to the Clinton camp filed suit just two days after the powerful, 60,000-strong Culinary Workers Union endorsed Obama.

But the judge who made yesterday's ruling didn't buy the argument that the precincts violate the "one man, one vote" principle

"We aren't voting here, we're caucusing. That's something that parties decide," Judge James Mahan said.""

The Clinton camp says it was never behind the lawsuit - although Bill Clinton ripped the process as unfair in comments this week.

Why "make a special rule only for these workers?" he said. "For the rest of you other workers, tough luck. I think the rules ought to be the same for everyone."

The Clinton camp worries that influence would be distributed unevenly, since the number of delegates at stake would be based on attendance at the casino sites - but based on voter registration at other sites.

Sen. Clinton said she has "no opinion on the lawsuit," though she suggested people other than casino workers should get special precincts.

Your new softer, "I am not a bitch" persona comes off as nothing more than the a wolf in sheep's clothing bit that it is.
The voters are on to you and it seems this judge agrees. Time to rip this ploy out of the Arkansas mafia play book.

Hillary and the Nevada teachers’ union don’t want low-income workers voting? Elitists trying to rig the system in their favor.

Note also that they have not mentioned the law suit in Los Angeles either. Unless the judge is in Hillary’s back pocket this should be an interesting case. .....if the media covers it.

It was fine when they thought it would benefit them...now that they think there is something to lose, now they oppose it...typical Clintonian silliness

The legal action didn’t happen until the local SEIU endorsed Obama.

Do we know if this judge was appointed by Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton or Bush II?

“Sen. Clinton said she has “no opinion on the lawsuit,” though she suggested people other than casino workers should get special precincts.”

She says she has no opinion, and then proceeds to give an opinion.

Double talking Clinton, all the way.

___________________________________________________________________

That makes it pretty much a classic Clinton maneuver. The state dem party approved it unanimously ten months ago and the Clinton lackeys and fellow-travelers sued to stop it only two days after the Culinary Workers Union came out for Obama.

Pure classic uncut Clinton. Same taste, same bouqet.

This can bite repubs in the butt...and maybe lose Nevada for the foreseeable future

“at large” precincts where one just has to say he works somewhere near + no voter ID requirement= Massive fraud capabilities in a general election. Think “river wards” of Chicago, 9the ward in New Orleans

Elitists trying to rig the system in their favor.

Heard something rather disturbing on the radio this morning.

Apparently, although the dems. seek to punish Michigan for messing with their primary date, come convention time, the presumptive nominee has a large if not total say in how the voting is managed and could insist that the Michigan delegates be counted.

As Hitlery was the only viable candidate in the Michigan primary she could get all available delegates.

This could matter if the voting is still close by convention time.

God help me, but I am full of shadenfreude for the Clintons. I’ve been looking forward to this moment for years. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.

The civil rights scrap with Obama (Black electorate) and now this scrap with the Culinary Workers Union (Hispanic electorate) does not bode well for the Clintons........

Coming up are South Carolina, Nevada, Florida, California and other states early on that have sizable numbers of Black and Hispanic voters..........

If the Obama camp can capitalize on this and get some wins as a result of this fissure between the Clintons and minorities, he has a chance to beat or at least seriously wound the Clinton campaign.........

The Clintons are all for minorities, as long as they stay in their place, and don't get in the way..........
