This is what happens when (as a society) we tolerate teen pregnancy. High school day care centers, contraception-on-demand (not in this case) without parental consent, abortion without parental knowledge, not to mention a floundering local job market that offers bleak opportunities for its young people.
So they have nothing better to do with that low self-esteem, but to get knocked up. Yeah, that's a good solution

“And maybe, just maybe, if we jettisoned the whole ‘judgmental’ thing and brought back the negative stigma being unwed teen parents were, young girls wouldn’t be seeking out homeless bums to give them the love they think they lack.”
Good call, Bob. We need to bring back the idea of negative stigma in a LOT of areas!
Sounds to me like the girls in question just made a career choice... federally subsidized child producers.
You would be shocked if you heard what some of these teens are saying—especially the girls. And I’m talking about middle class kids. Let me put it this way: boys think nothing about calling girls Ho’s and the girls think that’s just fine.
Now, let’s make sure that we charge the 24 yr.homeless man
with statutory rape.
The reporter that broke this story said that in this isolated community, it was the state of these girl’s lives that gave them no sense of personal self worth, or hope of being able to escape their hum-drum existance, which led them to this “bonding” pact, so they would have a sense of “belonging”.
Maybe we should call some of these boys rapists and see how they like it.
The district I’m running in has the highest per capita teen pregnancy rate in the Commonwealth. I know this “situation” all too well.
Experimenting was not one of their choices in these matters and it wasn't "schooling" that made them wise. It was good old mom and a watchful eye.
When my boys would call me from college, I'd always insert: $50.00 a week for 21 years...Think about it...
SChools: Teach biology not sex or sexual disfunctions. It's not their job.
Obvious solution: Zero tolerance for teen pregnancy.
The devil's in the details, however. What do we do to enforce zero tolerance? Execution of mom and unborn baby? Execution of just the unborn but allow the teen mother one more chance?
Obviously such draconian measures would raise a ruckus among bleeding heart types, but hey, when the results produce zero full-term pregnancies for all under 18 years of age, society will come around.
Its not rape if the boys are the same age group as the girls. The homeless guy would be rape as well as pretty desperate.
Massachusetts is the state where ‘eloquent rapists’
are held in the highest ideal by the Governnor.
You GO girls!
Brood mares is the technical term, is it not?
Let’s make sure we DON’T.
This girl was CLEARLY cruising for sex and SHE must bear the overwhelming majority of the responsibility for the sex she found. Lying about ones age is easy and so is getting a fake ID.
Make him pay child support? YES.
Arrest him? No.
Please explain why the statutory rape laws need to be revisited.
Try not to portray 16 year old girls as ignorant, helpless victims in your reply.
I am so sick of the big bad society boogey man being blamed for the idiotic decisions that stupid people make. Do these stupid people have an “opportunity” to drink clean water? To sleep in a real bed with sheets on it? To eat food? To take public transportation somewhere? To vote? To work and get a minimum wage? Then shut up and get a life and quit your bellyaching.
Okay...?
If young boys know they can have recreational sex (without ramifications), we’ll have more unwed mothers and absent “fathers”. If underage “sex” is outlawed, then many young boys will hopefully think twice before whipping it out, as jail would be their next stop.
