Trenton, N.J. (AP) -- Former Gov. James E. McGreevey will not have to pay alimony to his ex-wife, a judge ruled Friday in granting the couple a divorce after a tumultuous eight-year marriage that crumbled publicly when McGreevey acknowledged he was a "gay American."

A superior court judge ruled Friday that McGreevey, the nation's first openly gay governor, must pay $250 a week, or $1,075 a month, in child support for his 6-year-old daughter with Dina Matos.

Matos had asked for $2,500 a month alimony for four years and $1,750 a month in child support. The couple share custody of the girl.

McGreevey, now a seminary student, said during the couple's contentious divorce trial that he's too poor to pay alimony.

Only a grand a month in support for a former governor? This guy must be Glenn Sacks’ hero.

Maybe they're "friends with benefits."

This is New Jersey, where the Sopranos had to quit because they couldn't compete with the government.

I hate to ask, but if McGreevey is so proud of being a “gay American”, how in the heck did he have a child with a woman? Maybe he’s really “bi-sexual”? Or he decided to grit his teeth and have a woman as a prop for his political career?

Just thinking back to how his outing and resignation occured, to a casual observer, it looks like he resigned because of being gay, which contradicts the notion that “we’re here, we’re queer” and that they should be pround of being out of the closet. I guess I’m trying to say that an openly homosexual man could be elected in a liberal state such as New Jersey. But he chose to be in the closet, when nowadays the gay community wants to be in people’s faces about it.

There are two elements to the case.

1) Childcare - the wife got the short end of the stick.
2) Alimony - apparently the judge believed the witnesses claiming that the wife not only knew that McGreasy was bi-sexual, but she actually participated in three-way sex.

It seems to be the “in” thing right now for gays to go into the clergy, any denomination that will have them. Their agenda to undermine society has many prongs, and they’re coming on fast and furious-the schools, the churches, families (their disgusting usurpation of the rights to marry and raise children), and government. The basic units of civilised and decent societies. They are doing just what the fifth-column communists did, eating these institutions from the inside out, like a bunch of maggots. No one can tell me that this isn’t a coordinated effort by gays to destroy decent society by undermining its institutions, so that they can create their perverted utopian Sodom and Gomorrah society. If we let them, we’ll deserve the same end that God gave to those cities.

From The New York Post, Sept. 2007:

"Jim McGreevey, the nation's first openly gay governor, is returning to the classroom Tuesday as a seminary student.

The former New Jersey governor will begin full-time studies at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in Chelsea, where he will pursue a three-year Master of Divinity program.

McGreevey, 50, switched denominations from Roman Catholic to Episcopalian earlier this year and has expressed an interest in becoming a priest.

"I hope that Jim McGreevey finds some contentment and satisfaction in his new role as an Episcopalian priest," said Tom Giblin, the Democratic Party chairman during McGreevey's run for governor.

"He had an ability to heavily connect with all different types of folks ... that should be of enormous benefit in his new role."

McGreevey has up to a year to choose a specific course of study, but the program is designed for students preparing for life in the ordained ministry.

McGreevey shocked the nation in 2004 by declaring himself "a gay American" in a nationally televised speech with his stunned wife and parents at his side."

Only in America in the year 2008 can the Church be considered a good career move for a man who just came out of the closet.

Perhaps the Rev. McGreevey could lead the opening prayer at the Democrat National Convention.
