Sarah Palin is Barack Obama's first 'real' Republican foe
Telegraph ^ | September 12, 2008 | Philip Sherwell

So after a non-partisan down day for the 7th anniversary of 9/11, Barack Obama has come out swinging.

His campaign was already struggling on the message front before it was blind-sided by the double-whammy impact of Palinmania on the Republican ticket and a slew of aggressive McCain attack ads.

In his latest mem to "Interested Parties", campaign manager David Plouffe pledges: "We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain's attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people. We will not allow John McCain and his band of Karl Rove disciples to make this big election about small things."

But if you think the pledge to fight back more aggressively sounds familiar, you'd be right. As ABC's Jake Tapper observes in his Political Punch blog, this is at least the fourth time that the Obama camp has declared that it's "gloves off" time for their man.

And the New York Post's Mark Cunningham has an interesting take on why Mr Obama and his chief strategist David Axelrod suddenly seem to be flailing so badly - they have never run campaigns against "real Republicans" from the heartlands.

Mr Obama has spent his whole adult life in urban and/or academic settings. And when he won the Illinois senate contest in 2004, he was up against Alan Keyes,

I think the funniest thing about the McCain pick for VP is that his choice has become his biggest “attack” against Barack the Magic Negro (as performed on Rush Limbaugh by Rev. Sharpton). Thus the attack against Gov. Palin. The Libtards are feeling attacked because they didn’t get the winning hand that they thought they had with BHO and are now trying to make our hand seem less important.

I believe someone was saying something about this very topic a few months ago. About how she had already withstood the Republican attack machine, and implied that Obama would be torn apart like a poodle in a shark tank.

I forget who that cranky lady was, but I'll be the Democrats are wishing they had nominated her. ;-)

They keep telling us they'll hit back and every day, its a new gaffe. I'm still waiting for Team Obama to take those gloves off! (laughing)

Nothing has changed. And, if you're referring to President Bush as an idiot, forget it. All, in all, he's been a great president.

If I were making ads, I definitely make one showing an Obama actor daintily removing a set of frilly white gloves, and swishily slapping a McCain actor with them, before turning to the camera and huffing,

"You're next, Iran. I'm going to give you such an ouch!"

Oh yeah, and the telegraph is acknowledging this is the fourth time they have announced gloves off.

Do you think, and I am just hoping against all hope here, that the UK elitists who have declared Obama the savior of the world have figured out Obama is an idiot?

Maybe?

LOL, yeah right. Hitting McCain on big issues that matter to Americans such as how the disabled veteran McCain is out of touch because he can't type.

***It’s like the Luftwaffe at Dunkirk. They were rampaging all over Europe against inferior air forces, and when they came up against the Brits, they got a bloody nose against their first ‘real’ foe.
