This is the original article under question from the San Francisco Chronicle. NOWHERE in the article is the word coal mentioned!

Then it’s irrelevant. He’s on tape speaking the words. Am I surprised that a San Francisco paper won’t print them.
Not at all.
That’s right. IIRC the coal statements were edited out of the publication. It was the original interview tapes/notes in which according to a thread yesterday the statement by Obama was found.
The video is pretty clear, though;
newspaper reporters have always hated TV because it meant they could no longer just make up “quotes”...
It’s a cherry picked summary of the interview. I’m not going to apologize for the paper, but this is par for the course for the obamamedia. It’s up to the reader to keep a skeptical posture.
I watched the entire video and posted comments another thread on this topic. One takeaway quote by obama: “Generally speaking, I tell the truth” . It’s not taken out of context, he was referring to his general philosophy. At a later point in the interview, one of the reporters brought up the quote again for clarification because it was a very strange thing to say.
This little gem should have been in one of McCain’s ads:
“Asked what he(Obama) meant when he said, “Generally speaking, I tell the truth,” Obama said with a laugh, “What I meant was that I always tell the truth, but sometimes you avoid telling hard truths.”
Outrageous! I searched, too. I found hundreds of articles that don’t ever mention coal.
However, what they're NOT saying is that there was no indication, within the body of the article that is, that the topic of energy issues came up that would draw readers to the subject.
The interview is over 48 minutes long and few people are going to listen through to the end as readers expect to be informed by the article, in some part, as to what is in the interview.
To me, and this is strictly my opinion, that is nothing but deception.
IMO they deserve every bit of grief that they’re getting over this as they’ve brought it upon themselves.
One takeaway quote by obama: Generally speaking, I tell the truth . “
My second husband lived the same kind of rules.
I lasted only 14 months with him.
Too many half-truths.
Got tiresome trying to pick the fly crap out of the pepper with him.
Yep, not a peep. Only a link to the audio but like me, most people will assume the article summarizes the audio and who has time (or the stomach) to listen? Hardly an “already covered” topic.

I’m rather confused by the post...because here’s the video on San Fran’s site and in the video Obama say’s exactly what’s on the audio u-tube. Yet, they are claiming Obama never said it?
Also Newsbusters has not yet responded. Anything happening?
It is deceptive, especially considering the article was probably picked up by AP etc, while the audio was not.
You did that?
My only point is that the lead line in this thread confuses the issue and makes it seem that Obama did NOT make any comments about coal.
See post #15 for one freeper who saw it that way.
OK, after reading the new replies,,,the problem is that they did not mention this gem in their print copy.....used the Obama spin when talking about his views on energy.
I’m kinda slow but did they just recently put the video on their site? Perhaps someone can give me a summary to provide clarity.
