Obama must juggle high expectations, big challenges
11:59 PM CST on Saturday, November 8, 2008
Barack Obama is going to fix the economy, provide health care to all Americans, win two wars, restore the country's standing abroad and put an end to centuries of racism. At least that's the hope of millions of voters who are looking to the president-elect to solve the nation's ills and improve their lots in life.
Mr. Obama, who campaigned with soaring promises of change and hope, may carry a bigger burden than any president in modern history.
As the nation's first black president, his challenge is more daunting because many supporters expect him to create a just society in America, if not help reshape the world.
And many who opposed him for president are watching and waiting for him to fail.
"He will have to do 110 percent of what a white president would do," said Jorge Alvarez, 51, owner of Dichos bookstore in Oak Cliff's Bishop Arts District. "I think he is going to have a tougher battle than if he was white."
Presidents before Mr. Obama can attest that governing is difficult work, filled with compromises, setbacks and victories.

Obozo inherits an UNjust Society and will CHANGE it to a JUST Society.
Ping! Ping! Ping!
Is that all? Obama can easily lie 11000 percent as much as any other president could do, with the possible exception of Hillary's husband.
“...put an end to centuries of racism.”
Oxymoron?
Heil Obama.
Yep!
And the media will gleefully report it as “fact”.
Thanks, folks!
Gotta head out for the day.
Y’all have a GREAT Sunday. :)
When he fails, how long will it be before this Country elects another?
Can’t wait to see Bill Ayers first visit to the
White House after Obozo gets sworn in.
Nothing that your garden variety messiah can't handle.
yup, if he fails it’ll be becuase America is still racist.
Got it.
What will undo the zero is his own peeps...he’s already back-pedaled and said the pie might not be passed out for a year, if even in his first term!
His peeps won’t tolerate waiting that long, but the country is broke, thanks to hypocrats...
A RUDE wake-up call is coming, get your popcorn ready!
It required THREE of them to churn out that drivel?!
(or do they share a brain?)
"The Communist Party USA views the 2008 elections as a tremendous opportunity to defeat the policies of the right-wing Republicans and to move our country in a new progressive direction.
The record turnout in the Democratic Presidential primary races shows that millions of voters, including millions of new voters, are using this election to bring about real change. We wholeheartedly agree with them."

Saul Alinsky on "Change"...
From Rules for Radicals, Alinsky outlines his strategy in organizing, writing:
"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution."[2]

Louis Farrakhan, at the Millions More Movement rally in DC, Oct 15, 2005: "...what Mao Tse Tung did was, he went to the cultural community, and they [Farrakhan spreads his arms beneficently] accepted his idea."... "Mao Tse Tung ... had a billion people whose lives he had to transform."..."the idea of Mao Tse Tung became the idea of a billion people, and China became a world power on the base of the culture and the arts community. If we had a ministry of art and culture in every city we'd create this movement [in the U.S.]."
