Arizonan Will Head Homeland Security (Not Official Yet, But Guess Who?)
Yahoo News/Politico ^ | November 19, 2008 | Mike Allan

Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D) has been chosen to serve as secretary of the vast and troubled Department of Homeland Security for President-elect Obama, Democratic officials said. Napolitano is a border governor who will now be responsible for immigration policy and border security, which are part of Homeland Security’s myriad functions.

Napolitano brings law-and-order experience from her stint as the Grand Canyon State’s first female attorney general. One of the nation’s most prominent female elected officials, she made frequent appearances on behalf of Barack Obama during the campaign. She was re-elected to a second four-year term in 2006.

Transition insiders have long expected that she would be offered a Cabinet slot, although she had also been mentioned for other posts, including attorney general...

...The Democratic officials said Napolitano has not been officially offered the job but is likely to be named and to accept. The selection was first reported by CNN.

Napolitano has tried to shut down border enforcement at every turn. If she gets this post, it'll be Janet Reno all over again.

The worst possible choice. A stink in the eye of all law abiding Americans.

I don't know anything about her. What's her angle?

It would seem Arizona is more hurt than most states by illegals. Is that not true? Why does she coddle them? Votes? "human rights"? what?

I can’t wait to see what post Ayers, Wright and Farrakhan get.

Maybe he could just put all the prisoners down in Gitmo on his staff also.

She’ll probably kill the wall/fence and offer buses to the illegals, air conditioned, of course........

Many years ago I asked what happens when over 50 % of the people are criminals.

We know the answer now, don't we.

This is irony. When Arizonans complained about the illegals she claimed it was the Feds job to secure the borders, not the state’s.

Gee, thanks, Arizona. Just what the US needed...an open borders governor to head Homeland Security. We are doomed.

Im not looking forward to what the Coast Guard looks like in 4 years, or what they are tasked to do in the mean time.

OK, is there an upside here? Any chance Republicans can win this governor’s seat?

Actually, Arizona and a couple of other states have passed laws about entitlements that pushed illegals out of the state. Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas(?) have new laws on the books limiting or eliminating, in some cases, all the freebies illegals enjoyed.

Medical care, tuition, housing, etc, are all gone or limited, so a lot of illegals are returning to Mexico.

Why is the Department of Homeland Security “vast and troubled”?

Has Rosie O’Donnell been making fun of it?

Last November angry voters passed Proposition 200, which in part provides that undocumented aliens receive no state welfare benefits that they are not entitled to. Napolitano opposed it, as well as several bills that targeted illegal immigrants. -Time Magazine

She can’t even protect the people here in Arizona from the illegal aliens, how does that fool think she’ll be able to protect the whole country?! Well, at least she’ll be outta here and we’ll have a republican secretary of state taking her place.
