CA: Perata moves another $400,000 into his legal defense fund (PeRataGate .. Year 4 and counting)

Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy are helping to keep Don Perata out of jail and they may not even know it.

The Walt Disney Co. is one of a number of well-known groups and companies that has pumped money into the former Oakland state senator's "Leadership California" fund, which was put together in 2005 to raise money "to support or oppose state and local ballot measures and other lawful purposes."

In the past year, that "other lawful purpose" has been stoking the cooling boiler of Perata's legal defense fund, which has paid out about $2 million to attorneys charged with keeping the Democratic leader from being indicted in an ongoing federal investigation of his personal and political dealings.

So far, so good. The investigation has produced plenty of rumors, but zero legal action against Perata, his family or his associates. But hiring a team of attorneys to keep the feds at bay isn't cheap.

That's why earlier this month Perata moved $400,000 from Leadership California, a committee he controls and serves as treasurer, to his legal defense fund. This comes on top of a similar $1.5 million transfer he made in November and dwarfs the $200,000 or so that the committee spent the past couple of years on actual political stuff like the aborted recall of GOP state Sen. Jeff Denham of Merced ($110,000), the Prop. 93 term limits effort ($50,000), safe drinking water ($15,000) and Measure H for the Alameda schools ($21,000).

Of course, Perata's committee also gave $150,000 to the state Democratic Party. Not to worry, though. He got it back when the Dems gave $450,000 to his legal defense fund.

I wonder how much longer it will take for Americans to realize the Republic has been assaulted, overrun and placed under the control of the Leftist Thugocracy..

Then, how much longer before folks work up the spine to take the Republic back and restore the Republic.

Our Freedoms and Rights - earned by the spilled blood of patriots, may require still more blood spilled to protect or restore that which was our birthright....

The 2nd Amendment was written for a reason.
The Leftists and Thugs have opposed it for the very same reason.
