Stop bombing us: Osama isn’t here, says Pakistan Christina Lamb in Karachi
Osama bin Laden and the top Al-Qaeda leadership are not in Pakistan, making US missile attacks against them futile, according to the country’s interior minister.
“If Osama was in Pakistan we would know, with all the thousands of troops we have sent into the tribal areas in recent months,” Rehman Malik told The Sunday Times. “If he and all these four or five top people were in our area they would have been caught, the way we are searching.”
He added: “According to our information Osama is in Afghanistan, probably Kunar, as most of the activities against Pakistan are being directed from Kunar.”
Washington does not directly acknowledge its missile attacks on Pakistani territory by unmanned drone aircraft but Pakistani officials say the US has carried out more than 40 attacks inside its borders in the past 10 months, killing hundreds of people.
CIA officials claim these attacks have been highly effective in disrupting Al-Qaeda’s ability to operate. However, Malik insists they are a waste of time because the Al-Qaeda leadership is on the other side of the border in eastern Afghanistan.
“They’re getting mid-level people not big fish,” he said. “And they are counterproductive because they are killing civilians and turning locals against our government. We try to win people’s hearts, then one drone attack drives them away. One attack alone last week killed 50 people.”

Even if the bombs aren’t killing the high level guys, they could be disrupting the supply lines and communication lines to and from the caves.
Maybe we should send in drones to bomb both sides of the border. I don’t care if we get UBL or his janitor or accountant, if some alQaeda guys get killed in bombing raids, it’s worth it.
Osama’s wearing a Burkha and walking around free as a bird in Afghanistan because 0bama will not allow our troops to investigate anyone in a burkha.
They’re all a bunch of worthless limp wrist wusses. Osama AND 0bama.

Via Yahoo News:MINGORA, Pakistan – Pakistan was trying to end bloodshed when it let the idyllic Swat Valley fall under Islamic law last week. Instead, it has emboldened the Taliban to extend a hand to militants, including Osama bin Laden.
The local spokesman for the Taliban, which control the valley, told The Associated Press he’d welcome militants bent on battling U.S. troops and their Arab allies if they want to settle there.
“Osama can come here. Sure, like a brother they can stay anywhere they want,” Muslim Khan said in a two-hour interview Friday, his first with a foreign journalist since Islamic law was imposed. “Yes, we will help them and protect them.”

Messages from Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants have been published on the Bosnian Muslim web site putvjernika.com.
Titled “Usama bin Laden: Call to Jihad to stop aggression in Gaza” the text warns that Muslims “have ignored the requirement of Jihad!”.
The web site putvjernika.com is ran by Bosnian Muslims from Gornja Maoca, a village that was ethnically cleansed of Serbs and now occupied by Bosnian Muslims who believe in Wahabism.
The Muslims of Gornja Maoca have been involved in several terror attack plans on Europe, including the attempted bomb attack on the Pope John.
The web site is the exclusive Balkan web site that transmits al-Qaeda communications to their faithful in the region.
The Gornja Maoca community of Islamic believers is lead by Nusret Imamovic who recently said that suicide attacks are legal in Islam.

Last September, Sa’ad bin Laden was reported to have returned to Pakistan from Iran, according to messages posted on an al Qaeda jihad Web forum, after living (or being held prisoner) in Iran since the end of 2001, according to Iranians who discussed the issue with NBC News. Sa’ad allegedly worked with Khalid Shaik Mohamed and participated in planning a 2002 bombing in Tunisia which killed 17 people.
(UPDATE) The Treasury also designated Mustafa Hamid, also known as Abu al-Walid al-Masri, a top Al Qaeda theorist. Hamid wrote two books, “Chatter on the World’s Rooftop,” and “The Story of the Arab Afghans, From Their Entry Into Afghanistan Until They Left With Taliban.” Excerpts of the latter book were published in October 2006 on Al-Sharq al-Awsat (tip to Laura Mansfield). He is considered one of the most senior AQ theorists and is close to Mullah Omar, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and OBL. He is also credited with helping to develop the Islamist militant movement in Australia through a short marriage to Rabiyah Hutchison, an Australian convert to Islam who was married earlier to Abdul Rahim Ayub, one of the founders of Jemaah Islamiah’s branch in Australia.
(UPDATE, 12:20 pm ET) The Treasury Department has released much more information about these two and two additional AQ associates also designated. Interestingly, the purpose of the designations is to infer that the Iranian government is giving safe haven to senior Al Qaeda operatives, which justifies sanctions against Iran at a time when some are calling for “dialogue.” I don’t recall if Treasury has done that before. “It is important that Iran give a public accounting of how it is meeting its international obligations to constrain al Qaida,” says Stuart Levey. US releases Iranian Qods Force agents

The US military recently released five Iranian Qods Force agents who had posed as diplomats and were detained in northern Iraq in late 2006. The Iranian agents were released to the Iraqi government, which is expected to promptly turn them back over to Iran.
In January 2007, the five Iranian agents were detained by US forces in the Kurdish city of Irbil. Iran claimed the men were part of a diplomatic mission in Irbil, and protested the arrest. The men were operating from a liaison office that did not enjoy diplomatic privileges, however.
The US military accused the five Iranians of being Qods Force agents assigned to help support Shia terror groups inside Iraq.
“The five detainees are connected to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard – Qods Force (IRGC-QF), an organization known for providing funds, weapons, improvised explosive device technology and training to extremist groups attempting to destabilize the Government of Iraq and attack Coalition forces,” noted Multinational Forces Iraq in press release announcing the arrest in mid-January 2007.
Now these Qods Force agents have been released to the Iraqi government and will be turned over to the embassy in Baghdad, according to Ambassador Hassan Kazemi Qomi.
