JFK on Rushmore; Limbaugh tops, poll respondents say

John F. Kennedy remains a beloved figure almost a half century after his death.

Rush Limbaugh is still the main man to Republicans.

Although polls show dramatically declining support for a government run health care system, the vast majority of Americans aren't sure what it is they dislike.

Such are the results of a new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair survey.

JFK was the No. 1 response when Americans were asked which president they would like to see added to Mount Rushmore. Twenty-nine percent named the president assassinated 46 years ago.

Ronald Reagan was next with the support of 20 percent of those asked.

Barack Obama, whose philosophy is the direct opposite of JFK's memorable "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country," was fourth with 16 percent, two less than FDR.

What a steaming CROCK.

Why do you think it's named Mount RUSHmore, anyway?

Cheers!

60 Minutes/Vanity Fair survey.

Oh. Now there's a reliable source. How many times have they had Barry and Big foot on the cover of their magazine?

Millard Fillmore would be a better choice—he had more accomplishments than JFK as President.

JFK was the No. 1 response when Americans were asked which president they would like to see added to Mount Rushmore.

Ironically today, more Republicans endorse JFK than Democrats who have denigrated JFK and his memory.

It's a great example of how far we have fallen.

Washington represents the founding of the nation, Jefferson, its expansion via the Louisiana Purchase. Teddy is there because of the Panama Canal, and Lincoln preserved the Union. If anyone else deserves to be there, it’s Reagan - for his defeat of the Soviet Empire in the Cold War.

As for currency, aren’t they featuring all of the presidents on a gold $1 coin? It would be very easy for them to stop at Reagan and let him be the permanent face of that coin.

Definitely Reagan. Obama shouldn’t even be on the list.

Teddy is there because the artist wanted to do his glasses in rock. I kid you not. TR was a fascinating person, but not close to adequate in stature with Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln. Not close. But for those glasses he would not be there.

Other than that, if they are taking candidates for addition, I would chose James Madison. No president of the modern era comes close to deserving the honor of that distinguished company. None.
