As the oil arrives on the Louisiana shores, Obama goes golfing Posted by Jeff J Latest News May 22, 2010 Beaches closed in Louisiana..

Officials closed the public beach here Friday as thick gobs of oil resembling melted chocolate washed up, a very visible reminder of the blown-out well that has been spewing crude into the Gulf of Mexico for a month.

Up to now, only tar balls and a light sheen had come ashore. But oil was starting to hit the beach at this island resort community in various forms – light sheens, orange-colored splotches and heavier brown sheets – said Chris Roberts, a local official who surveyed the area Friday morning.

Obama hits the links at St. Andrews Air Force Base

President Barack Obama took to the golf course on Saturday after returned from delivering the commencement address at West Point.

The president teed off at the Andrews Air Force Base course with three other people, according to a pool report, but only one could be identified: White House trip director Marvin Nicholson.

Golf is a frequent weekend pastime for Obama. The president headed to the course almost immediately after disembarking

Is their a “truther” group over this disaster? If so, I may join. Progressives have much to gain from the aftermath/crisis.

What could he have done that would be of any practical benefit?

...some how I don’t think the oil spill will hurt Obama...he and the media are pinning it all on ‘greedy’ corporations...even managed to get in a couple of licks at Haliburton...one of their favorite punching bags.

Obama is a lousy golfer. And he is better at golf than being President.

That's the problem. Neither he nor anyone in his administration know anything about dealing with practical matters.

There is a hell of alot that could be done!

By Obama himself, or any other president? I haven't followed the details day by day. Do you think there is, for example, some executive order he should make that would make a difference at this point?

I don’t get this whole thing—why on earth should obammy show up in Louisiana? Don’t those folks down there have enough pollution already?

So—oil is washing up on the shore. Oil is natural in nature, and nature will clean the beaches if left alone.

Coming from the Gulf coast where there was very frequently oil washing on shore, I know that if you leave it alone, it will clean itself up. I realize there is a lot of oil being spilled into the Gulf right now-—and it’s best if they can trap as much as possible and remove it.

That’s a job for the oil company—not obammy.

Let him play golf and stay out of our lives for at least however long he’s on the golf course.........

I want to know what we’re going to do when foreign countries start building their oil wells off our coast. How do we enforce safety standards when the Great O-Nothing gave a pass to BP.

I think this is mostly mocking of what the lib press would be doing right now if W was POTUS. (i.e. isn’t this 0bama’s Katrina?)

The ‘Rats and the media hammered Bush over Katrina and the same rationale applies. It's the typical double-standard that frosts my butt. If Bush had gone golfing during something like this the media and their friends the ‘Rats would be all over him like stink on $hit. But Odouchebag plays golf while tens of thousands are being harmed and he gets a pass. In fact, people think it's cute. I think he's a rotten scumbag.

Do you think there is, for example, some executive order he should make that would make a difference at this point?

Heck yes. He created the problem by giving BP a pass on safety and planning and:

1. He could have ordered that the burning rig be kept afloat by all means necessary.
2. He could have assembled the smartest oil men on the planet as soon as it occurred to began attacking the problem.
3. He could have have moved an army of resources available under his power to the area to begin containment and he still could.

His lack of real commitment to fix this is telling. This disaster is playing right into his political agenda to stop offshore drilling. He doesn't give a damn about the ecology, economy or people hurt by this.

I agree, and I agree that holding President Bush responsible for the hurricane was an absurdity. Our Founding Fathers must be rolling over in their graves at the magical powers attributed to the President these days. If they were alive, they would be flabbergasted at the unutterable stupidity.
