North Dakota Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad announced today that he will not seek reelection, creating a potentially prime pickup opportunity for Republicans in a GOP-leaning state.

Yes, we are!
He probably figures that he’d be in the minority starting in 2010 and that doesnt appeal to him.
interesting i did a search on “kent Conrad” and it didn’t turn up anything. oh well it willbe interesting to see how long it stays up.
Handwriting on the wall for the Democrat Party. With Obama, the Democrat Party will go down big time in the 2012 election!!! The dummies better wise up right now and broom Obama, forcing him to either resign or be impeached!!!
January 2011. His seat is not up until Nov. of 2012.
This is really early! I wouldn't have expected this until this time next year.
Cue Powers Booth (”Tombstone”): “Well . . . . Bye!”
Good. I am waiting on the big one. The day Obama retires.
Sooner rather than later. Woo hoo.
Bingo! A Three-Fer!
Way to go NODAK!
I think it's too late for even that. Either resignation or impeachment is going to cover that party with the stink of loserdome. Even if the economy continues to "recover", $4.30/gallon gas and 9.5% unemployment is going to sink the Ds.
The word "skeptical" was a vast understatement to my reaction when some around here said Obama would be the best thing that ever happened to us, and seldom have I been more incorrect.
A prospect, not a guarantee
I’m surprised that, within the past two months, we haven’t heard of more senators and congressmen who won’t run for re-election, in 2012. In Nov. 1990, then-Sen. Alan Cranston said that he wouldn’t run in 1992. In Nov. 1994, then-Sen. Paul Simon said that he wouldn’t run in 1996.
Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-HI) probably won’t run. He’s 86, and he’s been a senator since he was appointed, in 1990. Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) probably won’t run. He’s 67, and he’s been a senator since 1983.
