I’m just surprised they could find a jury to convict him. This is one of those cases where I simply would have looked at the first few seconds of the video and been done, as far as rendering a verdict. Unless ‘twan (or the DA, in this case) could prove that he was ‘forced into a life of crime’ or at least into this crime, then it’s just plain tough that things didn’t work out as planned. And, as far as I know, that was not brought up.
There are lots of states where ‘twan actions would be welcomed, or at least tolerated. Trying that stunt in OK, TX, or the South usually interferes with moving into the next stage of adulthood (or moving into adulthood, in ‘twan’s case).
Well it was murder BUT the kid should not have done that in the first place. In hindsight, future victims of the “assailant” will now be safer.
Damn camera.(cough)
He shot the kid. The kid fell on the floor of the pharmacy off camera on his stomach. Ersland chased the second robber out of the store. Then Ersland came back into the store, grabbed another gun (a judge, I believe) and shot the kid several times in the back. The prosecution claims he murdered the kid. Ersland claims the kid moved and he thought the kid was trying to pull a gun out from under himself.
It’s obvious watching the security camera he didn’t feel threatened after the assailant fell to the floor.

You can’t blame the guy for wanting to make sure the scum would never come back, but allowing the videotape to survive - - that stupidity is worth 20 years alone.
“Its obvious watching the security camera he didnt feel threatened after the assailant fell to the floor.”
Easy solution: Don’t go robbing stores if you want to live to Age 18.
Seems to me a few people here are no better than this thug, all the man had to do was stand behind the counter and if the boy got up shoot him and he would have had a slim defense. But no he wanted to commit murder. End of case, hard time on the way.
If that were true you wouldn’t walk to a drawer 20 feet away to get another gun.
First you claimed that the robber was unconscious. The video doesn’t show whether he was conscious or not. Tell, me something. Would you have convicted Bernie Goetz?
Again, don’t rob people and they won’t shoot you. Pretty simple, really. Plus, he was headed for prison or death, he just got there quicker this way. Boo-hoo.
He had mucho adrenaline pumping through his system. He maintains that the kid moved. He thought the kid might have a gun underneath him. So he shot him.
I believe it’s the testimony of the prosecution’s medical expert that says the kid was unconscious and not moving. I don’t think there was any video or other physical evidence that disproves Ersland’s claims. The jury believed the expert.
He might have died from his wounds without the extra 5 holes, Jerome wouldn’t have been prosecuted if this was the case. He already defended himself. Jerome went too far. That’s all I’m saying, I don’t really care where the kid would have ended up.
After chasing the accomplice from the store, Ersland then gets a second gun before shooting Parker another five times, almost a minute after he fired the first gunshot.I'd want to hear a lot more testimony about how much of a threat was Parker during that minute.
No expert on this case but more or less he shot robber leaving him bleeding on floor and chased other one outside during at him then came back and pulled his other pistol and shot perp lying bleeding and allegedly incapacitated on floor over and over till out of bullets
All on camera and with witnesses
And then lied to media about being a war hero afterwards to boot
I believe in killing intruders but the law in most places...maybe not Texas..is you can’t do what he did and i can see how it could be immoral
My ex father in law in Rio killed a political opponent once who broke in and after wounded warned they would be back and my father in law calmly executed him in front of the family
This was a time of political issues in Brasil and the lefties were ageable and he erased the threat...not sure that is what happened here though..just sounds like the druggist decided to kill the guy and jury...in oklahoma...did not like it

>>It is not a different account, the guy was found guilty by the jury. End of story, you either understand the law applied here are you are a little on the dense side. Your choice!!!!

It is an account in the UK Daily Mail. I did a search and the title was not posted here.
What’s your problem, a*hole?
You’re a big tough smartass, hiding behing that keyboard, aren’t you?
Get lost, jackass.
If you saw someone moving and you thought they might be going for a gun would you take the time to calmly go fetch another loaded weapon, or would you act immediately. Jerome’s actions were very deliberate. He defends himself, chases the second robber out the door(with no mind to the kid on the floor) walks around the counter opens drawer, grabs another gun, walks back to fallen robber, and fires five more times point blank.
He was out of ammo in the first gun as I understand it. Why wouldn’t he go get the judge? The robbers could’ve come back to get their punk. He had every reason to get the second gun.
Agree with you... it is so simple.
