Tempest in a Tea Party [Dowd Smacks Back at Obamea]
New York Slimes ^ | 31 July 2011 | Maureen Dowd

Posted on 07/31/2011 10:35:06 AM PDT by Fractal Trader

SO I was chatting with Chris Coons, the new Democratic senator from Delaware who had a rare win over the Tea Party when he beat loony Christine “I’ve Dabbled in Witchcraft but I Am Not a Witch” O’Donnell in the midterms....

[Lots more garbage]

Money quote:

Democratic lawmakers worry that the Tea Party freshmen have already “neutered” the president, as one told me. They fret that Obama is an inept negotiator. They worry that he should have been out in the country selling a concrete plan, rather than once more kowtowing to Republicans and, as with the stimulus plan, health care and Libya, leading from behind.

As one Democratic senator complained: “The president veers between talking like a peevish professor and a scolding parent.” (Not to mention a jilted lover.) Another moaned: “We are watching him turn into Jimmy Carter right before our eyes.”

Ok, the whole column is crap, but it's interesting to note that she is coming down hard on Obama.

Not this part: I’ve Dabbled in Witchcraft but I Am Not a Witch” O’Donnell in the midterms....

She's upset because O'Donnell (in Maureen's mind) hasn't come out of the closet as Maureen clearly has...

From the article:

What if this is all a cruel joke on us? What if the people who hate government are good at it and the people who love government are bad at it?

Poor Maureen just doesn't get it. The people that hate government, conservatives, consider it overhead, a necessary evil - of course they want it smaller and run it better. The people that love government, the leftists, think of it as a jobs program and the center of all that's good and right with the world. These people add programs willy nilly and don't manage it well because the bigger it is the happier they are.

Very interesting.

It was plain to see that Obama was badly losing this debate.

Many on FR couldn't see that.

I haven't read a Mo Dowd article in years, but ...

Nine out of ten FReepers agree that Mo Dowd articles have the best pictures.

Part of the ever-increasing campaign to demonize the Tea Party. They should be worried; any group than can muster millions to march on Versailles is not to be trifled with. They are afraid, so the establishment (PUBs and RATs, both) will do all it can to destroy the Tea Party.

They would do well to remember Yamamoto after Pearl Harbor: “I fear that all we have done is to awaken the sleeping giant.” It would be wise NOT to *ss off the sleeping giant.

...but it's interesting to note that she is coming down hard on Obama.

The benchmark for her being hard on BHO is if she mentions his ears.

If she doesn't do that, than she's not really coming down on BHO, and
is only throwing a bone to have some plausible column to point to
when the house of cards comes crashing down.

Maureen calling somebody a “jilted lover” is also dripping with irony.

Dowd just doesn't understand that community organizers have a very limited skill set.

Dear DowdCow:

The competent writer does not begin an opening statement with the word "so."

...Not that a stupid, brain-dead, liberal party whore would understand the idea of going about things in a proper and correct manner.

They would do well to remember Yamamoto after Pearl Harbor: “I fear that all we have done is to awaken the sleeping giant.”

Let us not forget the latter part of Admiral Yamamoto's dire warning:

"...and filled him with a terrible resolve."

We may be awake, but are we resolute?

“We are watching him turn into Jimmy Carter right before our eyes.”

I find it amazing to contrast the perspective of the uber liberals to the performance of the GOP Freshman in this debt ceiling negotiation with that of the purists on here who are throwing the likes of Congressman Allen West under the bus. We are winning a small battle in pursuit of a much larger war which culminates in November, 2012. CZJ agrees (this one is for the jilted lover MoDo .....)
