Republican super PACs and other outside groups shaped by a loose network of prominent conservatives including Karl Rove, the Koch brothers and Tom Donohue of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce plan to spend roughly $1 billion on Novembers elections for the White House and control of Congress, according to officials familiar with the groups internal operations.
That total includes previously undisclosed plans for newly aggressive spending by the Koch brothers, who are steering funding to build sophisticated, county-by-county operations in key states. POLITICO has learned that Koch-related organizations plan to spend about $400 million ahead of the 2012 elections - twice what they had been expected to commit.
Just the spending linked to the Koch network is more than the $370 million that John McCain raised for his entire presidential campaign four years ago. And the $1 billion total surpasses the $750 million that Barack Obama, one of the most prolific fundraisers ever, collected for his 2008 campaign.

Don't forget all that 'stimulus' money that is unaccounted for.
It’s long past time wealthy conservatives started ponying up cash like this.
Now I'm quite sure Obama will raise a lot of money from homosexuals in Hollywood and Manhattan but this time around, the passion isn't going to be there. Now Obama is going to have to run on his record. No more of that "hopey-changey" stuff that caused college girls to faint. We are going to want to know what Obama actually did the past four year and why exactly should we be giving him four more years?
I've got the perfect PAC campaign ad too. Show Obama on a golf course with a rolling caption stating that the only thing that has improved in America these past four years is Obama's golf game. Then show Obama licking an ice cream cone while a scowling Michelle boards a government plane for yet another vacation junket.
Despite Romney at the top of the ticket, expect a lot of "passion" from the "Anybody But Obama" crowd this fall. Like the Reagan Democrats of 1980, they will not show themselves in all the polling but will make themselves heard on Election Day.
Don't be too confident. The coming bank runs in Spain are liable to cause all kinds of havoc here. The effects are going to be very unpredictable.
IMO, a bank holiday in several major European countries will cause one here. And the political ramifications are impossible to predict.
I'm not predicting it, but a suspension of the elections here is a possibility, though highly unlikely at this point. But that could change very quickly.
Alright!
Let’s R.O.L.L.
Not even a possibility. Won't happen. Remember that we've been holding elections as scheduled ever since 1789. At the height of the Civil War we held elections as scheduled. During the worst days of the Great Depression and through two World Wars, the elections went on without a hitch.
Can't think of a single scenario other than global destruction that would keep us from holding elections as scheduled this November.
The crap media will give Zero and tha Rats billions of dollars of positive coverage. We are still effectively being outspent 10 to 1.
I would crawl over glass to vote Obama out..I’ll be voting for the Republican nominee.
I dont think all the money in the world is going to convince the majority of americans that they are better off. So I am going to be optimistic.
“I’m not predicting it, but a suspension of the elections here is a possibility, though highly unlikely at this point. But that could change very quickly.”
If they have the balls to suspend the elections then we better have the balls to start a Civil War.
I am voting for Romney, and I will tell you why. My first choice was Herman Cain until the media hit job, and I am certainly not happy Romney is the guy we put up against Obama, but I have to believe Romney will be held accountable and his feet put to the fire, hopefully by Senate and House that will be mostly conservative this fall. It is my only hope.
if the gop had a better candidate they wouldnt need a billion dollars
if the gop had a better candidate they wouldnt need a billion dollars
I wish I had your optimism..It’s going to take a lot of money, organization..and voters including we disappointed conservative to get Obama out..
I’m going to the polls in November..no pouts, no third parties..no “statements” but just to defeat Obamanation and elect as many good conservatives as possible downticket.
I will vote for the one most likely to boot this administration out...the Republican nominee.
Surely there was only a 140 character limit, because the rest of the sentence would have stated "...because our "union cash" advantage is not panning out and for some reason people just don't like us." ?? just guessing.
I wish i had your optimism. we had some pretty good new guys in 2010 they either got corrupted by the idiots there or they just fooled us too. the best they could do is say "well our ideas wont pass the senate" I dont buy that horsecrap, i want to see their ideas go to the senate and get voted down then i would say "when we get a republican controlled senate" the gop is disappointing they are suppose to be "my" party it damn sure isnt the democrats. lets watch and see if they hold on to house, i wont believe any reform unless they boot Boner.
I believe the dims control what can be voted on in the Senate..
