Former Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling, who is serving a 24-year prison term for his role in the energy giant's epic collapse, could get out of prison early under an agreement being discussed by his attorneys and the Justice Department, CNBC has learned.

Skilling, who was convicted in 2006 of conspiracy, fraud and insider trading, has served just over six years. It is not clear how much his sentence would be shortened under the deal.

Don't know what to think about this....I do believe that these guys, as guilty as they might be, were targeted by the media for special hatred because they seemed to be Republican.

Worldcom execs, friends of Terry McAuliffe, and Obama's solar company crooks, get a lot less condemnation from the media.

Enron gave a lot of money to Rats as well. If the Rats were running Texas at the time, they would have treated Enron exactly the same as the Republicans did.

Why is Skilling in prison when John Corzine isn’t? Enron was not a financial institution, which supposedly has more stringent sentencing, as MF Global was.
Yet, Skilling was sentenced to 24 years and Corzine and Thane and everyone in that nest of thieves at Goldman Sachs is free. The lesson: If you want to get away with something you’d better be on Wall St. and not Houston.

Well, just look at the stupidity/dishonesty in the reporting, itself.

He wasn’t in jail for anything to do with the company’s collapse. All of those charges were for his attempts to cover-up (save it) from collapse.

Libtard taxation laws have done more than their share to create the kind if climate where a company as successful as Enron had been could be so swiftly and skillfully driven into the ground.

I don’t expect the Libtards to understand this, much less write about it, however.

Kidding me?

That Butthole Bernie Ebbers is being cared for by the taxpayers and will likely die in prison.

That d ick, Skilling, is where he should be and he should serve his sentence.

You could say he did the same thing as Bernie, which was to cover up theur deads.

These jack wagons cost so many peoples jobs and tied the KawLeeFawNeeYuh taxpayer with outrageous energy rates.

Skilling is why then Governor, Gray Davis, put the taxpayer on the hook so PGE could receive a contractual guarantee to get their money back, instead of fircing those bozos to get get a loan.

As well, they cost, again, thousands their pension plans and total eviseration of their savings in the form of stock holdings, forcing them to sell their homes, put off retirement and look at a grim future with retirement no longer a possibility.

FK Skilling.

I don’t get why Nachio of Qwest and that kite writer Jeffery Pearl weren’t charged.

They pulled the exact same.thing and by now the statute of limitations has passed.
