Obama OK with morning-after pill sales at age 15

EXICO CITY (AP) — President Barack Obama said Thursday he was comfortable with his administration's decision to allow over-the-counter purchases of a morning-after pill for anyone 15 and older.

The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday had lowered the age at which people can buy the Plan B One-Step morning-after pill without a prescription to 15 — younger than the current limit of 17. The FDA decided that the pill could be sold on drugstore shelves near condoms, instead of locked behind pharmacy counters.

Obama, speaking at a news conference while in Mexico, said the FDA's decision was based on "solid scientific evidence."

What's still unclear is whether the administration will prevail on its appeal of a court order that would lift all age limits on purchasers of the pill.

That decision to appeal set off a storm of criticism from reproductive rights groups, who denounced it as politically motivated and a step backward for women's health.

"We are profoundly disappointed. This appeal takes away the promise of all women having timely access to emergency contraception," Susannah Baruch, Interim President & CEO of the Reproductive Health Technologies Project, said in a statement late Wednesday.

"It is especially troubling in light of the Food and Drug Administration's move yesterday to continue age restrictions and ID requirements, despite a court order to make emergency contraception accessible for women of all ages. Both announcements, particularly in tandem, highlight the administration's corner-cutting on women's health," Baruch said. "It's a sad day for women's health when politics prevails."

With a father like this, Sasha and Malia don't stand a chance. They may grow up with wealth and power but they'll never know what a soul looks like.

Most normal parents try to teach children to respect themselves and are intolerant of very bad choices. With Obama, bad choices are the highest priority...

He’s OK with sales at 15, but he’d prefer “free” at any age.

Prediction: Now that the homosexuals have jammed there way into “normal”, lowering the age of consent will be the next new “civil rights” cause.

It simply stuns me that they will sell this OTC to 15 year old’s but they are proposing 21 for cigarettes ?

The world with these clowns in charge is up is down, left is right, front is back.

Do they need to show a photo ID? They might give it to a 13 year old friend in need? Any health risks?

You ask too many questions, Mind your own business.

Hell, he is okay with secret abortions on 13 year old girls who have been coerced into sex or raped by their step fathers.

If the 15 year-old doesn’t have an ID will they accept a report card?

Any guy having sex with a 15 year old is guilty of Statuatory Rape in many, if not all, states.

Seems the FDA and Obie’s regime don’t care about enforcing the law, only letting young girls get it on.

Maybe that’s the “Chicago way” but no man of any honor would want his 15 year old daughter or granddaughter to get legally raped and then take a pill for it.

If it weren’t for “No Standards”, Obama wouldn’t have any “standards” at all. The same for Holder, Napolitano, the head of the FDA and Sebelius, another wacko.

That can be changed, just like homo "marriage."

Of course he is. But he'd really prefer there be no age limit and the pills be free.

I feel sorry for this asshole's kids.

Regardless what FDR's pro-big federal government activist justices wanted everybody to think about Congress's Commerce Clause powers (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3), Thomas Jefferson and previous generations of Constitution-respecting justices had clarified that the federal government has no constitutoinal authority to regulate intrastate commerce. Using terms like "does not extend" and "exclusively," Jefferson had clarified that Congress has no business sticking its big nose into intrastate commerce.
“For the power given to Congress by the Constitution does not extend to the internal regulation of the commerce of a State, (that is to say of the commerce between citizen and citizen,) which remain exclusively (emphases added) with its own legislature; but to its external commerce only, that is to say, its commerce with another State, or with foreign nations, or with the Indian tribes.” –Thomas Jefferson, Jefferson’s Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank : 1791.

The Supreme Court later reflected on both the Commerce Clause and Jefferson's words by twice officially clarifing that the feds not only have no business regulating intrastate commerce, but neither can the feds regulate intrastate healthcare policy.

"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress (emphases added)." --Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

"Inspection laws, quarantine laws, health laws of every description, as well as laws for regulating the internal commerce of a state (emphasis added) and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c., are component parts of this mass." --Justice Barbour, New York v. Miln, 1837.

Here's another official Supreme Court clarification that the states have never delegated to Congress via the Constitution the specific power to regulate intrastate medical issues.

“Direct control of medical practice in the states is obviously (emphasis added) beyond the power of Congress.” –Linder v. United States, 1925.

Obama, like all Democrats and other liberals, thinks every live birth is a failure of cosmic proportions. What he wants is lots of sex, starting at the first day of puberty, and zero consequences...he likes the idea of abortion up to the age of about eighteen for every conceived human.
