I’m not sure it’s “decency”. I think they talk that way to everyone.
Some years ago in my place of work I inadvertantly referred to a transgendered female as "he" in a meeting. I realized it as soon as I said it, but I thought, "Hey ...", and anyway it went by. Obviously, I never made the leap, and neither did he, AFAICT. A sad thing, in my estimation.
One of my favorite activities here is bringing along my right-wing Filipino bud to “talk” to liberals. One thing I observed is that they don’t have a shot at a response as their liberal white guilt couldn’t make them retort. And when they do take the bait, he raises the temperature of the exchange.
Well, actually... if you meet a Polar Bear, you’ll cry.
