Climate Change Question: Can you swim? (hoax deniers on the loose)
Valley Morning Star ^ | 9/22/13 | TY JOHNSON

**SNIP**

“Every year the models get higher,” said Stefanie Herweck, chair of the RGV Sierra Club, noting that the more climate scientists learn about the impact of fossil fuels on climate, the higher they predict sea level rise will be within the next century.

Current estimates predict the sea level of the Gulf of Mexico to increase by three feet by the year 2100, but Herweck said scientists have suggested that is a conservative estimate.

Without curtailing fossil fuel use and its impact on climate, the polar ice caps could melt faster, leading to significant sea level rise within the next 50 years, something UTPA student Sam Denny would like to avoid.

“That’s within our lifetime,” he said, pointing out that even small rises in sea level could cause trouble on South Padre Island, where property values and the tourism industry could be endangered.

Global Warming: it’s an IQ test. The stupid people fall for it.

Something is getting higher but it is brown and smells much worse than sea water.

I am 997 feet above sea level.
How long do I have to wait before I have beach front property?

Sam Denny, a student, is evidently too willfully ignorant and devoid of good judgement to be trustworthy in any professional or otherwise responsible capacity as an employee or contractor. I won’t hire him or any business firm who would employ him to provide me with their goods or services, insofar as it could be avoided.

Every year the models get higher

I don't care how tall the cover-girls are or what they are smoking, but it has about as much relevance as man-made CO2 "pollution" does to any so-called "anthropogenic climate change".

>>In my lifetime we were supposed to be under glacier ice by now...<<

Under the “new” warming models, glaciers are caused by AGW (as are heat waves and no change at all).

Twenty thousand years ago, according to geographical research, sea levels were so low due to glacial temperatures that Florida was roughly TWICE AS BIG as it is now. That was only 20,000 years ago, indeed a very brief moment in the scale of earth time. One hundred twenty five thousand years ago, sea levels were about 25 feet higher and Florida was about HALF THE SIZE that it is now.

AND IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. AND AGAIN. AND AGAIN.

All, every one, of the world's ocean beaches and coastal wetlands will suffer the "ecological disaster" some day of being covered with water, just as ALL, every one, of the world's ocean beaches and coastal wetlands will someday be high and dry.

Unless, that is, a meteor comes slamming out of space and blasts the earth into smithereenies. Other than that, these extreme rises and drops in sea levels are GUARANDAMNTEED no matter what humans do.

Furthermore, predicting, let alone manipulating, the weather based on ten or even 100-year or even 10,000-year increments, is EXACTLY like trying to predict and manipulate the precise temperature of your neighborhood one nano-second from now.

LUDICROUS. People who fall for the environmental hoax do so because they are IGNORANT, in exactly the same way that ignorant primitives fell for the myth that British explorers armed with almanacs "caused" eclipses of the sun. Ignorant people are gullible people.

the polar ice caps could melt faster, leading to significant sea level rise

The (well, A) problem with this sentence is the plural.

The Arctic ice cap floats. Its complete melting would have exactly zero impact on sea level, by definition.

The Antarctic and Greenland caps, were they to melt, to be sure, would have significant impact. But only the Antarctic polar cap would make any difference at all.

And that's just the way the Obama regime wants it.

Obviously, it’s not man-made, or fossil fuels causing “global warming”...with all of restrictions put on industry, automobiles, and conservation for the past 30 years, they claim the “carbon footprint” is growing at an alarming rate...so, if it was “man-made”, there should be a decrease...so, somebody’s lying.

Our atmosphere is practically sterile compared to, say, China, or even to our own 50 years ago. The more they dictate the anti-pollution guidelines, the higher they claim the problem.

This GW scare is as bogus as obamacare, it’s about money, and control, period!!

Well, yeah, but this began LONG before Obama. It's the way the education regime wants it, it's the way the egos in "envirnonmental studies" want it, it's the way tyrants and imperialists the world over have wanted ignorant people -- ignorant people can be gullied and manipulated. When people arm themselves with knowledge, they neutralize part of the tyrant's force.

I guess now I really understand that old saying:

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

If I may delicately and civilly suggest ... putting this in terms of Obama at all is short sighted at best. This threat was here long before Obama hit the scene and it will be here long after he's gone. Romney bought wholesale into the environmental agenda -- research confirms that he did. So ... what did Obama have to do with it? It's what I would have been voting for in voting "against" Obama.

We are at a quandary, and the environmental movement MUST be a key stand for any party that sensible Americans can support.

EXACTLY.

In moral terms (the left frames this in moral terms of "saving the planet," being "responsible,") this is cleaning up after ourselves, refusing to live in our own muck. We Americans and westerners have cleaned up after ourselves and are better for it, frankly. China and Russian have lived in their own muck, and are paying the price.

Genesis I believe spoke in symbolic ways of time. So as a decently educated person in terms of geology and paleontology, it's easy for me to see that nothing on earth is permanent. Zero. Zip. We are along for the ride. The weather controls us, not the other way around.

Best to clean up after ourselves like any decent person would, only we do it as a society pursuing energy and commerce. I remember when San Pedro Harbor in LA was so polluted it was the color or Orange Crush soda pop, literally. A mere handful of years after anti-pollution regs were in force, it was blue and alive.

There sure is a morality issue at play here, but its about picking up after yourself rather than denying paths to thriving and prosperity in the name of "saving the planet."

Every year the MODELS get higher, eh? What happens to the actual measurements, every year? Do they agree with the models? Of course they don’t. I could create “models” that predict massive vulcanism, or alien invasion, or pretty much any other perceived catastrophe, is immanent, and then scream, “Oh my God, we’re all gonna die” at the top of my lungs, but that still doesn’t make the real world do anything to make my fantasies come true.
