These people are going to need prayer!
Considering their ‘standby resources’ for disaster response -are a handful of military aircraft and vessels I’d say they’re going to be in bad shape. They will need international assistance after this.
Those poor folks have my prayers.
We have satellite offices in the RP and we knew about it since this morning. Our staff, as always, were told to go home.
Typhoons hit the RP average 10 times in a 3 month span and super typhoons around 5 times. the death tolls for every typhoon is around 1,000 average per 12 hours.
The difference is that Filipinos just rebuild...unlike those whiny limp-wristed Americans during the Sandy storm and Filipinos don’t need an effing’ “benefit concert” every time they get hit by one.
Prayers for anyone affected by this storm. This is horrific.
“One of the most powerful typhoons ever recorded ...”
Two things about the typhoon should be noted: first, “one of” indicate there were probably others; second, “ever records” also denotes that there were probably others that were not recorded.
Before everyone gets their global warming panties all bunched up like “Superstorm Sandy”, typhoons like this have happened before, will happen again and are not caused by global warming. They will probably cause extensive damage because there are more people located in densely populated urban localities near the ocean, are less prepared, have less survival skills, and will be mostly dependent on others to save them.
Prayers going up, I know AlexW is living out there, I hope him and his family is all ok.
The Filipinos are going to get slammed by this. May God protect them.
