Steve King: "Maybe we should be spending less time watching Comedy Central and more time considering all the real jobs that are out there, ones that require real hard labor and don't involve sitting behind a desk. If we did, we'd realize that every day, American workers perform the dirtiest, most difficult, most dangerous jobs that can be thrown at them. From crab fishermen who venture out into some of the roughest and most dangerous waters in the world, to the Joe the Plumbers of the world who many days would prefer the aroma of fresh dirt to that of the sewage from American elitists who disparage them even as they flush. These are real Americans doing real jobs, task that simply must get done."

Colbert is still pissed Steve King is a bigger political player than he is. Even the funny dummies said Colbert looked like an elitist.

The Eskimos surviving without fruit comment was funnier and more truthful than anything Colbert's 20 writers have come up with.

I love Steve King, and illegal immigration is not the answer - BUT there are jobs that Americans won’t do in the numbers needed.

King talks about crab fishermen and the Joe the Plumbers - those are the entrepreneur owners. Those folks will always be around. It’s the non owners they need to work “for them” as they grow where the problem is. Welfare and EBT and so on is a major problem...because government hand outs and crime are the reasons Americans won’t do many jobs in enough numbers.

When I was in my Twenties, I worked for a small electronics company that made Disco stuff like neon dance floors. But sometimes we’d have quite a bit of time in-between. My boss and I would go out and hay sheet rock. Made great money doing that. Now I don’t think I could get a jab as a drawler unless I spoke Spanish! Carpenters are in the same boat. Gotta be bilingual!

Sounds like your work ethic in your 20s is something we see so little of today from the 20 somethings. Now they collect government checks, live in mamas basement, and hang out at Starbucks or Panera all day on wifi.
