The Republican Attorneys General Association has launched a new television ad released Thursday again linking Democratic attorney general candidate Andy Beshear with President Barack Obama.

A female narrator in the ad, titled “Follow the Money,” says Beshear has collected “hundreds of thousands from the same liberal donors who funded Barack Obama.”

“Why? Because Beshear would support Obama’s policies, putting Obama ahead of Kentucky,” the narrator says in the 30-second spot, which can be viewed here:

Scott Will, executive director of RAGA, said in a statement, “You may not always know what Andy Beshear stands for, but you know who he stands with — the Obama supporters who have bankrolled his campaign.”

RAGA has consistently sought to connect Beshear with Obama, who is particularly unpopular in Kentucky as his nears the end of his presidency.

Beshear’s campaign unsuccessfully tried to have an ad that made similar claims of his support for Obama’s policies pulled from the airwaves in July. The spot released Thursday cites the same reports in claiming Beshear’s support of the president’s policies.

Beshear’s campaign noted the difference in tone from ads released by their campaign versus those published by RAGA in support of his opponent, Republican state Sen. Whitney Westerfield of Hopkinsville.

“While our campaign has already released three positive ads highlighting Andy’s commitment to preserving Kentucky values, Whitney Westerfield’s out-of-state allies continue to pour in millions of dollars on misleading negative ads against Andy to distract from Westerfield’s record of suing hundreds of vulnerable Kentuckians on behalf of payday lenders and debt collectors,” Beshear spokeswoman Galia Slayen said in a statement.
