Imagine for a moment that come November of 2016 just as the presidential election was about to take place Hillary Clinton dropped out of the race as the Democratic nominee and President Barack Obama postponed the election indefinitely.
Thered be insurrection in the streets.
Yet that is exactly what Speaker Boehner and the cabal that currently runs the House Republican Conference did when Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy dropped out of the Speaker race last week.
And this effort to fix the election for Speaker is being actively abetted by the establishment media, who act like they dont care or see what is going on, which is that the Republican establishment that runs Capitol Hill right now is simply stalling around until they can figure out a way to manipulate the process to maintain their power.
And make no mistake about it, this isnt about unifying the Party, or finding a consensus candidate.
Stalling the vote to elect a new Speaker is all about those that been wrecking the country keeping their power in Congress, and thwarting the will of We the People.
And of course the establishment media including what one might call the conservative establishment are right there covering for them.
Since Congress left on its Columbus Day recess how much media coverage has the election of a new Speaker received?
Zilch.
And what about the strong rumor that Speaker Boehner is reconsidering his resignation and might stick around to force through Obamas clean debt ceiling increase, an Obama-level two-year spending bill and a tax break bill for his cronies on K Street?
Also zilch coverage by the establishment media.
It is as if the election of the Speaker of the House next in line for the presidency after the Vice President was akin to some junior high school Student Council election.
But operating out of the public eye is the only way that the establishment can manipulate the process to maintain their power, hence the cone of silence that has descended over the race.
And truth be told if there was some kind of open process where half-a-dozen candidates for Speaker came forth and canvassed the House Republican Conference, made speeches to the various formal caucuses, like the Freedom Caucus, the Liberty Caucus and the Republican Study Committee, and to the various informal regional caucuses, like the Southern States, the establishment candidates would all lose.
The majority of House Republicans are fed-up with being pushed around by a small cabal of insiders. The only Members of the House Republican Conference who like the current system are the ones who maintain (or think they can gain) power through it.
Which is why it is so important to elect a conservative like Florida Congressman Daniel Webster Speaker.
Rep. Webster is the only one who has put his name forward who has committed to change the current system where a small cabal of insiders including many unelected and shadowy congressional staff run the show and shove their lobbyist-driven agenda down the throats of We the People.
And Webster, as Speaker of the Florida House, made a record proving he can and will create a principles-based system of legislating, as opposed to the current power-based system.
In advance of the election to replace establishment Republican John Boehner as Speaker of the House, 55 conservative leaders from across America signed an open letter to the House Republican Conference. Entitled Vision For New Conservative Leadership the letter sets forth the minimum expectations conservatives have of the new post-Boehner House Republican leadership. You can add your name to the list by signing the open letter to the House Republican Conference through this link. Or you can call your Representative the House switchboard is 1-866-220-0044 to tell them you want a conservative Speaker like Daniel Webster, not Boehner-lite, like Rep. Paul Ryan or Kevin McCarthy.
PS - If you are active in a conservative organization that has not joined the battle we urge you to get your organization involved in the fight to elect a conservative Speaker of the House TODAY. Talk to your conservative friends, tell them it is time to burn up the phone lines with this message, Vote for a conservative Speaker, and vote NOW. Dont let the establishment stall around until they are guaranteed a win.
Ryan, Scalise, and other establishment types should cause an insurrection.
I’ll support Webster, Blackburn, or any conservative member.
While it is constitutional, I do not expect anyone from outside the House of Representatives to be nominated.
If you don’t know by now, you’ll never know. This is a totally oligarchical out of control extra constitutional government. It must be completely cleansed.
If we vacate Boehner today, wouldn’t that force an election?
From my perspective, anyone the GOPe so-called leadership is likely to install in that position will be someone who has some serious personal character and psychological flaws.
There have been too many former Speakers who have fit this pattern, IMO.
I want the person that THEY do not want.
Webster's a good alternative ...
I think it would. They’d need a spine.= to do that.
Meadows needs to go ahead & drop his “privileged resolution” on Boo Hoo (Boehner) & force him out. Now.
Fiddling. While Rome burns.
Yes, it would.
No other business could be done until a speaker was selected.
But they do not want to vacate the chair, otherwise they would have.
This is why the so-called “Freedom Caucus” means nothing to me. They are full of poop.
This whole affair has shown me that there are no conservatives in the house. There are no leaders either. Just a directionless bunch of idiots and a herd of RINOs.
The GOP is not going to save this country from its current path.
Maybe not.
Maybe they didn’t vacate the chair because the conservatives know that Boehner will turn to the dems for support and he’ll get it the same way he has every other controversial item he’s forced through on the strength of democrat votes. The vacate move would then fail.
IIRC, in a full election, the establishment republicans must negotiate with the conservative caucus.
Story obviously came from a website called WellDUH.com
NOBODY in the house wants the job until AFTER Obama gets everything he wants. Boner knew he’d be forced out if he gave in to Obama. So, he decided to announce he’s leaving on his own terms thus not forcing anyone else to take the heat. The entire house is in on this little scam. And I mean the ENTIRE house.
This stall is working.
The SOTH is off the front page and out of the news!
TIME TO ACT!
The only response easily available is call/email/write our congress member and tell him/her who we would like them not to support.
The only one officially running who there seems to be some conservative consensus on is Daniel Webster.
None of the other conservatives are standing up.
I blasted my congressman at Boehner’s election and his reply to me was NO ONE ELSE ran.
That is really hard logic to deny.
Then let the GOP reach across the aisle to the demonrats to elect a speaker.
It’s what the GOP does all the time anyway, so why would that matter here?
If conservatives choose to allow a lame duck speaker to remain in the chair, and he snookers any incoming speaker by making a long term budget deal, then we know this was all a bunch of the usual kabuki BS the GOP specializes in, don’t we?
Who are the conservatives who have officially announced that they are running?
There aren’t any, and I don’t expect that there will be, because the GOP isn’t conservative.
The only name I hear from conservatives is Daniel Webster. Is he not conservative?
Well, he apparently has a D rating from Levin’s conservative score card website, which I think that is the name of it, but I am not 100% sure on that.
But I recall Levin discussing that rating, and he basically said how can he support someone with a D rating, and he concluded that he can’t, and doesn’t understand why the Freedom Caucus is.
All I can say about Webster is that he is a Florida Republican, and Florida Republicans are not known for their conservatism, generally speaking.
