New legislation that restricts the Environmental Protection Agency from initiating some scientific studies will rein in frivolous research that was backed by the Obama administration, Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, told Newsmax TV.

"The intent . . . is to scrutinize regulations that have been promoted in the past by the previous administration," Smith, chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, told Bill Tucker, guest host of Thursday's "The Steve Malzberg Show." "A lot of these regulations were not based upon good science. Sometimes the underlined so-called data that justifies these regulations didn't even exist.

"Sometimes the data was cherry picked and often the individuals writing the regulations were just trying to implement their sort of predetermined outcomes. I think all these regulations need to be scrutinized."

Nice change up. Regs having to actually be substantiated and not based on a line of BS that a bunch of folks agree about but isn't actually true. That does it. I'm callin' billy nye the mechanical engineering guy.

“’That Can’t Be Justified’ by Science”

It would be helpful if he defined “science” here. The word has lately devolved to mean “what government-approved people with scientific-sounding college degrees endorse”.

It isn’t hard. Prove your case on a chalkboard. I don’t need ManBearPig to invoke regulations on a world that enriches ManBearPig.

Not just a “consensus” of “experts” and assumed scientists?

How absurd.

“Sometimes the data was cherry picked and often the individuals writing the regulations were just trying to implement their sort of predetermined outcomes.”

Or just to liberate Treasury dollars so they can be funneled back into the DNC and their RAT minions.

Science—>find all the relevant facts—>form a concept of the relationship of all the facts—>seek weak areas where the facts don’t support the conjecture—>try again, and again, until no more disagreement between facts and theory occurs. Make predictions based on the theory, a theory which is accepted as valid only as long as test results support, and do not contradict claims of the theory.

Science is a process, a journey of discovery, not a destination reached by decree, not a summation of opinion, not a revelation driven by political need. Science is not the business of confirmation; but, the search for negative results which go against the grain of current thought. Science is the rebellious spark of challenge against academic orthodoxy.
