Funny ha!

That Marine impressed me. He stood at attention no matter the distraction. A high-ranking Air Force person attempted to hand that Marine his hat and he wouldn't take it. Can someone explain this to me? I suppose no Marine is expected to respond to a anyone from another service regardless of rank? Why didn't the Marine at least reach out to take back his hat?

Explain, please!

I happened to see this “event” a couple of minutes after it happened. What CNN “showed” was the 100% ACCURATE happening shown BACKWARD, AND EDITIED.
A further entry on FR at the time explained that the young MARINE was acting properly by remaining at attention.
This is just Criminal News Network being itself.

The Officer saluted the Marine, ordered him At Ease and then handed him the Hat.

The Marine then put the Hat back on himself.

It’s at the end of the Video after President Trump boards Marine One.

I was wondering the same thing. I’ve heard of the British guards who guard Buckingham Palace. It’s well known that they are not supposed to move or react to any distraction in their area. I have never heard of an American Marine being held to the same restrictions. So much has changed since I was in the Navy, and I was never posted on that kind of high level assignment anyway.

LMAO, won't get far doing that.

A high-ranking Air Force person attempted to hand that Marine his hat and he wouldn't take it.

He was at 'attention'. USAF told him 'at ease'. Then he can move.

That first statement still makes me laugh. I was standing Group duty and had a Marine refuse an order because I wasn't in 'his chain of command'. The other Marine with him did comply. Took the second from the MPs along with the first guy's ID card and escorted the 2nd Marine back to his barracks. Called the unit's SgtMaj the next am. and guy was in admin trying to get a new ID because he had 'lost it'. Only time the duty was fun.

The Marine cannot salute the president when he is not in uniform, ie his cover is blown off. He is still respecting the President by standing at attention until the President boards the helicopter.

Only after the President is aboard does he accept his hat from the Air Force officer. It is not a sign of disrespect for the officer, it is a sign of disciplined respect for the President.

There is no custom of disrespecting anyone from another service in rendering honors regardless of branch. That being said, ask a Marine in a bar what he or she thinks of a military member that isn't a Marine...

Hi.

It’s been 40+ years, but I believe the actual command is, “Recover!”

No matter, or concerns.

He’s not to move unless the Prez is threatened.

Any military personnel allowed on the White House grounds, much less guarding the President, has an impeccable background and service record.

A SGM at the White House Transportation Agency (Army) once told me that qualification for his Unit, which has access to the White House but no direct contact with the President, includes, among other zero-tolerance matters, no inappropriate social media posts whatsoever. You can be assured that this particular Marine is impeccable.
