Anthony Weiner to report to prison on Monday
Eyewitness News Updated 1 hr 44 mins ago NEW YORK (WABC) -- Disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner has to report to federal prison on Monday.
The 53-year-old was sentenced to 21 to 27 months in prison for sexting a 15-year-old girl.
Weiner will serve his time at the Federal Medical Center, Devens, in Massachusetts.
The facility houses more than 1,100 male inmates who require medical or mental health care. It offers sex offender treatment.
The sentencing in September completed the sordid downfall of the New York Democrat, whose penchant for exchanging lewd messages and photos with young women online destroyed his career in Congress in 2011, doomed his bid for mayor of New York in 2013, wrecked his marriage to Hillary Clinton's closest aide, Huma Abedin, and became entangled in the 2016 presidential campaign.
Admitting "I have a sickness, but I do not have an excuse," Weiner pleaded guilty in May to transferring obscene material to a minor, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, for illicit contact with a North Carolina teenager.
He sought to be spared from prison, tearfully telling Judge Denise Cote that he was "a very sick man for a very long time." Weiner, weeping as he read from a written statement on a page he held in front of him, called his crime his "rock bottom."

How dare he compare himself with people who have cancer or diabetes? If he had a compulsion for sex with one woman, or masturbation in private, he wouldn’t be going to jail. But he was sending dicpics to children! That is a moral failing, a choice! Not a sickness!

Someone like Anthony Weiner could spend prison time teaching others about law, or how government runs. He could teach them how to make a resume or complete an online course too, but then that would involve being on the Internet.
I don’t know if Weiner will have any access to the net, unless it’s directly supervised. I don’t believe prisoners are allowed to have cell phones either, but I keep hearing cases where cell phones have been smuggled in anyway.

Weenie didn’t go to jail....he is at a low quality vacation condo. If he went to a real prison like SQ or Folsom, he would have a reaming every night, instead of a bed time movie he is getting right now.
I wonder if he is smart enough to insist on protective custody... In most prisons, the inmates beat the crap out of incoming sex offenders and child molesters, and their ilk.

Does he have to register as a sex offender like anyone else would? I haven’t heard anything about that.
