The Left has long wrung its hands at the prospect of politics being influenced by religion. But when it suits their purpose, liberals will bend religion to their cause.
Take today's Morning Joe, where Joe Scarborough actually asked, in a canned statement at the top of the show, "what would Jesus do" regarding immigration policies? Fire-and-brimstone Scarborough accused President Trump's government of "allowing little children to die while they're being incarcerated."

Let’s repeal all welfare, free healthcare and free schooling and then anyone who wants to come can come.
Republican messaging should be that during other immigration times there was no government provided food stamps and welfare. Schooling was available but in English only. If he wants to go back there then fine, let’s do that.
David insisted people would really be needing to leave war-torn areas. He would be insisting that people came as real immigrants not fraudulent acts paid by Soros. He would not allow people who come in as murderers rapists and Thugs and drug dealers. That’s what he would do Joe.
Historically, missionaries would go to the country that needed them. Help them where they live. Why do we need to bring them here?

Actually a lot of real, legit foreign missionaries do come to the US to evangelize a population that largely rejects - or believe they have no use for - God.
We can't have a welfare state and an open-door immigration policy. It can't work.
