I don’t recall NZ muslims being radicalized though there were some cells in neighboring Australia. We had Yemeni muslims here for generations working in the steel industry and they never caused problems.
It’s never a neutral issue when someone decides to murder people. Not only do murderers take human life, but they also take liberty, as their actions, unjustified, amp up pressure on government to crack down on everyone else in the name of safety.

Good point. But, as we’ve seen in the aftermath of the “Patriot Act,” the actions taken by government have much more of a negative impact on the population in general than on the people they’re supposedly intended to impact. I fly a lot and, although I’ve seen dozens of kids, elderly and what we would probably call “normal Americans” taken into secondary by TSA, I have yet to see one single obviously Muslim traveler taken into secondary. What’s TSA’s budget...?
