The St. Louis Park City Council will return to saying the Pledge of Allegiance prior to its meetings.
According to KSTP reporter Brett Hoffland, the council unanimously voted to return the recitation of the pledge at its Monday night meeting.
The pledge debate wasn't even on the agenda for Monday night, but that didn't stop a few hundred people from cramming into city hall to share their opinion on the issue, many coming from St. Louis Park and all across the state.
"I want to make sure that our traditions continue to be recognized because this is a great country," said Michael Smith, from Eden Prairie. "Our pledge needs to be said." "I think they're just really trying to think that we're going to go away and ignore it but we're not," said Marni Hocke, from Minneapolis.
"I agree with the council in that the pledge should not be said before meetings because it might ostracize some people," said Meg McCormick, from St. Louis Park.
Ultimately, the council felt like they needed to make a decision sooner rather than later.
Last month, they voted to eliminate the pledge because some agreed it was an issue of diversity and wanting to make sure everyone felt welcome.
President Donald Trump even weighed in on Twitter saying "people are sick and tired of this stupidity."
Some on the council became emotional Monday night when they spoke about how they have received death threats. The mayor called this one of the most challenging times for the city. Even though the vote was unanimous, each council member took time to share their thoughts on the controversial topic.
"I have concluded that I made a mistake and I am sorry," Councilmember Steve Hallfin said.
"This is America, I pledge allegiance to it. As we strive to have liberty and justice for all, please let us have our liberty here and respect our local control," Councilmember Tim Brausen said.
The fact that this was even an issue shows the extent of progressive rot in out nation. Hone your skills and teach your children well.
Surprised anyone can still remember it.
I suggest everyone listen to him say this, RAush has played it on his show before.
I
Me; an individual; a committee of one.
Pledge
Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.
Allegiance
My love and my devotion.
To the Flag
Our standard; Old Glory; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybodys job.
of the United
That means that we have all come together.
States
Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.
And to the Republic
Pledge of Allegiance - buy this art print at AllPosters.comRepublic a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and its from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
For which it stands
One Nation
One Nation meaning, so blessed by God.
Indivisible
Incapable of being divided.
With Liberty
Which is Freedom; the right of power to live ones own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.
And Justice
The principle, or quality, of dealing fairly with others.
For All
For All which means, boys and girls, its as much your country as it is mine. And now, boys and girls, let me hear you recite the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country, and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under God. Wouldnt it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer, and that would be eliminated from schools, too?

Yes, indeed. And had this been tried back in, say, 1960 even Democrats would have been outraged. JFK would have demanded that the pledge be reinstated immediately.
Sanity is returning?
Shows how easily people can get sidetracked by a few dumb ahs with a cause.
This crap is why Trump is going to take Minnesota in 2020.
This was spearheaded by a high school friend of mine. She posted videos of the council meeting. Awesome!
Nice!
In Congress Republican leaders use the strategy of bringing bills up for a vote even knowing they are DOA just to get the negative votes on the record.
I see a backlash to leftist garbage growing.
I agree with the council in that the pledge should not be said before meetings because it might ostracize some people,” said Meg McCormick,
Hey Meg,
Shut up and make me a sammich.
L
That was my favorite stupid remark in the entire article.
Maybe they dropped it because they have a contract with Nike?
Steve, I've concluded you are sorry because you got caught. You hate America. Be gone with you.
It's time to get rid of these jerks. Get them out of office and don't elect the same.
