His two concluding paragraphs are very frightening. I doubt that Trump would act like the dictator they all accuse him of being, but, if you and your family are facing prison at the end of your term(s) or sooner, then who knows what might happen? The communists are igniting a horrible civil war in the U.S.
I don’t believe most Americans have thought through what a successful campaign to oust Donald Trump would look like. Most casual news consumers can only think of it in terms of Mike Pence becoming president. The real problem would be the precedent of a de facto intelligence community veto over elections, using the lunatic spookworld brand of politics that has dominated the last three years of anti-Trump agitation.CIA/FBI-backed impeachment could also be a self-fulfilling prophecy. If Donald Trump thinks he’s going to be jailed upon leaving office, he’ll sooner or later figure out that his only real move is to start acting like the “dictator” MSNBC and CNN keep insisting he is. Why give up the White House and wait to be arrested, when he still has theoretical authority to send Special Forces troops rappelling through the windows of every last Russiagate/Ukrainegate leaker? Taibbi was never any fan of Trump, but he states quite clearly — numerous times— he’s frightened by the coup being enacted against a legitimately elected POTUS.
He calls out the “shadow government” of “spooks” currently attempting to overthrow our electoral system.
He’s saying the spooks are setting a new precedent in the US which is common in 3rd world countries— election by coup.
He says clearly a “bad president” —Taibbi’s opinion of Trump— is preferable to rule by the “shadow government” with the complicity of media “dolts like Jim Acosta.”
