Dead man lies on an empty street at China's virus ground zero
Agence France-Presse ^ | January 31, 2020 | AFP

A grey-haired man wearing a face mask lies dead on the pavement at ground zero of China's virus epidemic, a plastic shopping bag in one hand...there are only a few passersby and they dare not go near him...A woman standing near the man...said she believed he had died from the virus. "It's terrible," she said. "These days many people have died."...In the two hours that AFP observed the scene, at least 15 ambulances passed by, attending other calls. Finally, a white van with blacked-out windows arrived to take away the man. The body was zipped into a yellow surgical bag, and carried into the van on a stretcher. Staff immediately began to clean the ground as the van drove away, disinfecting the streets where the body had lain.

I guess it is better than a dead man standing in the street.

Scary, yes. There are photos behind the link.

It might be a good idea to stock up on necessities enough for a couple of months. If the virus gets loose here, no one will show up to work in stores or other places with public customer traffic.

It cannot get loose here like in China. Not enough overcrowding here.

The Johns Hopkins map shows mortality over 50%. Maybe deceptive as most people are still sick and of those no longer sick, over 50% are instead dead. From the various pictures and anecdotal accounts, I suspect the counts of sick and dead to be many 10s of times higher than reported.

Banning travel TO China still misses the URGENT BAN of travel FROM China.

I don’t know, we have some rather crowded filthy cess-pool cities like San Francisco, which are really no better than these places in China. Pretty much anywhere with large illegal immigrant populations, they are filthy areas ripe for infectious disease.

I would suggest that if this truly arrived in San Francisco, that you’d see a hundred dead in just the first ten days...mostly all street people. Same for L A. Same for Seattle.

Nothing informative here.

The Beijing News:
Rumors of a man that died in the street of Coronavirus proved to be false. The man tripped and hit his head on the concrete according to Chink & Son Crematorium who did the official autopsy.

“It cannot get loose here like in China. Not enough overcrowding here.”

Sorry to burst your little bubble but that has already been shown to be a fallacy. Population density in Wuhan is less than many U.S. cities, because Wuhan is so spread out (Delaware size).

Why would “street people” be more susceptible than anyone else? There is no science behind your claim. In fact, street people might have more active immune systems.

AFP could not determine how the man, who appeared to be aged in his 60s, had died.

Key sentence.

"It cannot get loose here like in China. Not enough overcrowding here."

Tomorrow. Friday. Walfart, Booger King, Quickie Mart. Be there, or be square. ;)

Scenes at the hospitals could be interesting, indeed, in a few weeks. Hospitals may be all the rage and the only kind of place for socializing then.

It’s wrong.

Business Insider:

“The Wuhan coronavirus seems to have a low fatality rate, and most patients make full recoveries. Experts reveal why it’s causing panic anyway.”

Here in the United States, we don't visit the open air market daily to shop for food and we have freezers and refrigerators to store perishables. It's a little far fetched to equate a third world culture with our modern western civilization.

That being said, my wife and I have for many years stocked-up on almost everything when it's on sale.
