But there is a fly in the ointment. Let’s say the United States took the land from Tribe A. But Tribe A took the land from Tribe B. And Tribe B took the land from Tribe C. Etc. (A lot of this can be traced back.)

So which tribe gets the U.S.-occupied land back?


Tribe Z, naturally.
