They say for every boy and girl There's just one love in this whole world And I know I've found mine The heavenly touch of your embrace Tells me no one could take your place Ever in my heart Young love (young love), first love (first love) Filled with true devotion Young love (young love), our love (our love) We share with deep emotion Just one kiss from your sweet lips Will tell me that your love is real And I can feel that it's true We will vow to one another There will never be another Love for you or for me

Oh I love it caww!
I’m sure Jim has many memories of songs and moments with his Sheila.

For sure I have memories with my beloved, who is critically ill right now.
Lord willing, if he makes it until February 14th , we will celebrate our 62nd Wedding Anniversary.

With all that 2020 has brought us in our beloved USA, here at FreeRepublic, we can be thankful for our families, spouses and friends.

Sheila was a sweetheart. I don’t remember ever hearing her complain about her medical situation. She had a hearty laugh that was contagious. She was always appreciative if you gave her any assistance.

And did she ever love her country music. When we would all be at the Fresno rallies and picnics you just knew that there would be country music playing in the background. (Truth be told I learned to love country music because of Sheila.)

Jim, Chris, and John, my prayers are with you. May you feel comforted by God’s enduring love and know that we will see her again. I expect her to greet us in heaven with “God Bless the U.S.A.” playing in the background.

Our nation has been blessed with the Robinsons. I don’t know them personally but it is obvious their commitment to the good of mankind and this nation benefits us all. Sheila, from what I’ve read, was a sincere and genuine person whose light shone bright for all to witness. It’s apparent she loved life and Jim and America.

God bless and hold close the Robinson family for all eternity. May Sheila Rest In Peace and Jim be comforted with that knowledge. Amen.

The only pics I could find from TCMS are of Shelia’s back. There are some others out there, but I think they are lost in cyberspace.

Thank you very much, Amy.

That picture was taken probably in the spring of 1970 on one of our trips up to Chowchilla to see Sheila’s mother.

We met and started dating in November 1969 when she was 19 and I was 24. She had graduated from Roosevelt High School a year earlier and was working as a teacher’s aide at Calwa Elementary at the time. I had recently completed my four year enlistment in the navy and was working as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic.

I used to hang out with friends after work at a tavern not far from the airport, shooting pool and drinking draft beer at 25 cents a glass. One night Sheila and her friend Barbara showed up and Barbara sent Sheila in to see if Barbara’s boyfriend Phil was there.

Here I was standing at the end of bar, que stick in one hand, glass of beer in the other when this cute young thing comes walking in with a sweet smile on her face.

What was I supposed to do? Instinctively, as any old grizzled navy vet would do, I blurted out, “Hey baby, how about a beer?”

She looked right at me, her sparkling eyes met mine and her smile widened and turned into a quick laugh, but she walked on by. She walked over and talked to the bartender for a minute, then left, and that was it.

But wait. Turns out Phil was a friend of mine and apparently, the three of them talked about that chance encounter and Sheila described the rude guy at the end of bar with long blond hair and scraggly beard and Phil figured out it was me. So he and Barbara arranged a double date with me and Sheila and our lifelong journey began.

It was love at first sight with me, but it took several months of wooing to convince her.

Jim, Thank you for sharing more of yours and Sheila’s life.
I love your story of love.

It is so good to read about Sheila’s love of life. Her love of country music and her love to tease.

I’m happy to have known her for 47 years. I tell everyone 48 but I think i exaggerated; it was really only 47.

You, John and Chris ..... take care of yourselves.

I think I have known Sheila for going on twenty years now. Twenty years of happy memories of the many rallies and FReeper functions we attended with Jim, Sheila, and the Central Valley FReepers. From the Gary Condit protest rally in Modesto to the (hilariously fun) Fresno President Bush Inauguration Brunch (which was covered by C-Span, no less), to the many Tailgate picnics, to all the Friday, “Support our Troops” rallies and the fabulous FreeRepublic Bush-Cheney Inaugural Ball in D.C. Sheila was always there, side by side with Jim.

She loved supporting our military and waving our flag while playing her favorite country music from her boom box on the corner of Blackstone and Shaw. Sheila’s sweet spirit, her great sense of humor and her patriotism will long be remembered by those of us who were blessed to know her and we shall miss her terribly. Her smile, her laughter and her gracious spirit will live on in our memories.

Rest In Peace, dear Sheila,
until we all meet again.
