'Get Ready for War!' General Urges Ukrainians to Prepare for Imminent Conflict With Russia
Express (U.K.) ^ | Mon, Apr 26, 2021 | John Varga

Posted on 04/25/2021 10:07:27 PM PDT by nickcarraway

A TOP Ukrainian general has warned the country it must prepare for the worst and be ready to go to war with Russia at any time.

However Major General Serhii Kryvonos said he did not believe that the threat of war had been eliminated and argued that all the country must get ready for further conflict.

While the army was ready for war, the rest of the country was not and was "in a panic", he told Espresso TV

He added: "In the war, we need to expect the worst scenario and prepare for it."

The Deputy Secretary of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Council went on to claim that he did not expect Ukraine to be allowed to join NATO.

He said the best the country could hope for was for logistical support from the Western military alliance.

"Apart from NATO, we must look for other ways," he argued.

"And we have them. This is obtaining the status of a U.S. Strategic Partner outside of NATO membership."

Earlier in the crisis, Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine's President, had called on NATO to allow his country to join the military organisation.

He argued that NATO membership was the only way to end the war in eastern Ukraine and prevent a Russian invasion.

After a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on April 6, Mr Zelensky tweeted: "We are committed to reforming our army and defense sector, but reforms alone will not stop Russia.

"NATO is the only way to end the war in Dobas. Ukraine's Membership Action Plan will be a real signal for Russia.”

Mr Putin sees the Western military alliance as a hostile force and has repeatedly warned Kiev against seeking full NATO membership.

If Kosovo Split from Serbia was supported by the West, why not the same for LPR and DPR?

That Kiev is welcoming Erdogan’s assistance into the fray, I will side with autonomy for LPR, DPR, Donbas region.

Ukraina can’t stand for more than a few days against Russia.

Both are East Slavic nations, but more specifically the Ukraine doesn’t quite have the full sense of nationhood. In the east and south people still consider themselves “we are locals, not Ukrainians, not Russians”.

What will happen is that Russia takes the east and we end up with a rump state Ukraine that hates Russia. But this will be a buffer state between Russia and Europe.

Tons of Ukrainians come to Poland to work and their best minds are moving here. I don’t see that changing anytime soon

That's a ridiculous argument. Turkey is far closer to Russia, than it is to Ukraine. Maybe Erdogan has his little games with Russia every so often, but the reality is, they need each other.

Turkey gets most their oil from Russia, and they are a valuable customer for Russia. The two nations have deep financial ties.

Turkey won't be an enemy of Russia, until they can project their power far beyond what they can today.

When all of this started all the DNR wanted is the right to decide on cultural issues, and their legislature to have a say on the governor and the regional AG appointment.
The independence wasn’t on menu, yet the coup government sent troops to bomb them.
Ukraine wants war to cover corruption.

Russia's defense minister on Thursday...said the troops should return to their bases by May 1, but he ordered to keep the heavy weapons deployed to western Russia as part of the drills for another massive military exercise later this year.

The big push to the Dnieper will not come now. It will come at the same time that the ChiComs invade Taiwan.

This is the most accurate map of language in Ukraine and shows the reason why Putin didn't invade all the way to Kyiv in 2014.

IMHO, Russia will not take, nor want to take, Kiev or Odessa.

But they may want a final and defendable river border, the Dnieper. Those who are loyal to Ukraine east of the river will either accept control from Moscow, or move west of the river.

Shifting borders on this plain have shifted back and forth over the centuries. The Dnieper won’t shift.

Time will tell.
