Texas Will Revoke Licenses for Child Care Facilities That House Refugee Children
Reason ^ | Nun 2, 2021

As the feds struggle to shelter an influx of unaccompanied migrant kids, Texas threatens to shut down facilities that provide them care...

In a Tuesday announcement, Abbott said that he would revoke the licenses of Texas businesses housing or placing undocumented minors as part of contracts with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).

"The Governor directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to take all necessary steps to discontinue state licensure of any child care facility under a contract with the federal government that shelters or detains unlawful immigrants," says the June 1 press release. Abbott's order also said the state Health and Human Services Commission should "deny a license application for any new child-care facility that shelters or detains unlawful immigrants or other individuals not lawfully present in the United States."

There are currently 52 licensed facilities in Texas that care for unaccompanied child refugees, notes The Dallas Morning News. "Within three months or so, Abbott's move apparently would force them to stop serving unaccompanied minors because the facilities must have state licenses to qualify for the federal contracts." ...

And how long will it take for the Harris/Biden Department of Just Us to assume immediate, and complete, control of all such facilities under some law passed in 1942?

Abbott is not a leader folks.

The minute Biden allowed these illegals to come over the border, all Abbott had to do was order the TX National Guard and county sheriff deputies to assist with the Border Patrol, and under no circumstances that illegals in TX would help themselves to any state benefits or housing.

You stop the problem at the source.

This would have forced Biden (or whoever is pulling his strings) hands and there's no way NM, AZ or CA would have accepted the illegals that TX refused.

All illegals need to be deported. No exceptions, I don't give a damn how bad things are in your country or how long you've been here.

The costs are enormous. Many Texans and US citizens are struggling to provide for their own children and we have to pay for half the world’s children??!! Its one thing for blessed citizens to be good and generous OF OUR OWN FREE WIIL but it pisses the hell out of me when some entity forces that on me “YOU - PAY MORE TAXES”.

You are right and that would have been the way to stop the invasion at the border.

And that’s one of the reasons I’m not voting for Abbott.

At which point, Biden would then Federalize the Guard and send them to do something else. Federal law allows the Feds to assume command of NG units deployed by a governor.

Greg Abbott is good... He’s not as good as DeSantis, but he is... good.

Unfortunately, the law doesn’t work that way.
There may come a time when the people stand up.

I9 in Texas, two tiny towns away from the border; you?

Right before I went on air with

He said the endorsement was playing well and talked about rounding up even more support for my re-election.

He’s all in 100%.

That sounds all nice and neat-but it isn’t the way the law works here-the governor of this state-and some others-do not legally have the absolute power you seem to think they have-it may not be ideal, but it does keep them from becoming petty dictators like the governors of some states have. In this case, shutting off the money is about as much pain and disruption as gov Abbott can inflict while he and the AG cook up something better-the AG has more power in this state when it comes to matters like that...
