Perhaps I should have called this post “Why ballet at Princeton?” A document sent by the leaders of the Princeton University Ballet (PUD), the student-run ballet club, seems to argue by implication for ditching ballet altogether.
The document begins:
Ballet is rooted in white supremacy and perfectionism. We are all entering this space with a mindset that what we see as perfect is a white standard. Unlearning that will be difficult but rewarding. Before we begin detailing our action plan, we want to acknowledge that our leadership and those who composed this plan are all white.
The last sentence comes as no surprise. Could black students have written anything this ridiculous? Other than as a parody of the white left, I mean.

I hope their leotards get infested with sand fleas.
Princeton is racist for not having Breakdancing in their curriculum because ballet is equal to spinning on your head on spray-painted sheets of cardboard.
Ballet is a product of Western civilization. Needs to go. Bring in African tribal dance.
Is anyone else tired of anti white rhetoric? All I hear from the left is how evil and rotten whites are. I’m anything but ashamed of my skin color.
“Ballet is rooted in white supremacy”
Marxism is rooted in white supremacy. It was invented and promoted by pasty white male Europeans to subjugate everyone else. Indigenous peoples the world over should renounce it.
I thought it was rooted in Beauty and Music.
Who knew those things were "white supremacy".
Wonder if Chinese dance and South Pacific dances are also rooted in "white supremacy"? Not to mention the dances of India. They would have to be.
I am sure finding out they are white not to mention "white supremacists" is going to be a bit of a jolt.
The morons and their progeny--i.e. the ones who don't see their foolishness for what it is and rise above it--will be a permanent underclass.
They will have no insight or comprehension of truth and no understanding that they themselves are responsible for their unhappy fate, but they will have condemned themselves to lives of servitude and poverty.
Those who demand excellence and strive for it, will always rise above those who don't.
Thank you for posting.
Ballet principles are equally distributed to everyone.
You can dance to the level you can, and you are judged
against what others can do on the same skill sets.
Yes it’s subjective. Is that evil?
NO, it is in part of a Western Civilization standard, but it
is only observant of the same laws in nature.
Men and women compete against each other as potential mates.
The observance of these competitions is subjective, but the
results are the same as in any other walk of life.
Those who win are those whose offerings were deemed most
acceptable.
Western civilization isn’t contemptible unless nature itself
is.
So Leftists, is nature a Conservative conspiracy?
The woke ballet is sure to sell lots of tickets. Doesn’t everybody want to see dancers who do not meet the physical and talent standards of classical ballet (and color has nothing to do with that) struggle through a performance? Will the male partner throw his back out or drop that 160-pound partner he is trying to lift? Are five fouettes good enough when Swan Lake calls for 32?
From Harrison Bergeron:
“Yup,” said George. He tried to think a little about the ballerinas. They weren’t really very good – no better than anybody else would have been, anyway. They were burdened with sashweights and bags of birdshot, and their faces were masked, so that no one, seeing a free and graceful gesture or a pretty face, would feel like something the cat drug in.
Trockadero Ballet!
Dance performing arts have a long history at Princeton. It's not a degree program. These are student run groups.
“What are you studying?”
“Primitive Cultures!”
