Some Republicans fear party overreach on LGBT measures (moderates wring their hands)

Tim Miller, a former spokesman for Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential bid who has since left the GOP, said of the recent measures, “I think in the short term, it’s a political winner, and that’s why you see so many other states doing copycat bills on Florida.”

But “I think that there are some big risks for Republicans, though in the medium term,” he added. “There’s a reason that the politics on gay marriage shifted so quickly. … The broad middle of this country does not want to see gay people or trans people be targeted.”

Many Republicans argue that their recent legislative efforts are geared toward giving parents more control over their children’s education and are not aimed at marginalizing gay or transgender communities. Rather, they say, the push for legislation is the latest iteration of post-pandemic conservative organizing around public schools and is similar to the move against teaching what conservatives have characterized as “critical race theory.”

No, the broad middle of this country does not want to see grade school children targeted by gay or trans people.

I think this is dead wrong. I think a lot of us are tired seeing gay couples, interracial couples, and "woke-ism" to the extreme in TV ads and shows. Evidently white males are no longer available for TV ads. A friend of mine has an 8 year old grandson who likes to watch the TV series 911 because he loves fire engines. My friend, however, is tired of explaining why the program shows two men in bed kissing and a few minutes later shows two women kissing in bed. Personally, what you do in private is your own business as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. That said, I don't want to see it on TV all the time.

You can always tell that it’s been shoehorned in. Like somebody in some meeting said make sure there’s some gay scene (which has nothing to do with the plot).

So…. They got a “what Republicans think” quote from the spokesman of one of the more dismal political failures of the past decade, and who isn’t even a republican anymore. Good job, media!!

That being said, he’s not wrong. Politicians always overreach. Doesn’t matter if they’re D or R.

I know. It’s laughable. They always have to find some former GOP official (who always worked for a Jeb Bush or John Kasich type) or a “professor of political science” at some local university to decry the current direction of the Republican party.

“There’s a reason that the politics on gay marriage shifted so quickly.”

Yea. Despite state laws and referendums expressing the will of the people, gay marriage was shoved down our throats like abortion. Kennedy said anyone who opposes the decision is a bigot. Opponents didn’t embrace gay marriage. They just shook their heads and sucked it up. Now are kids are groomed in kindergarten and the Boy Scouts are bankrupt.

On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court (5-4) struck down all state bans on same-sex marriage, legalized it in all fifty states, and required states to honor out-of-state same-sex marriage licenses in the case Obergefell v. Hodges.

Just as they did with homosexuality, television will soon be used as a key mechanism to "normalize" pedophilia. It will be done gradually. At first, there will be brief, non-judgmental references to an unseen pedophile (however, that word won't be used. They'll call them a "minor attracted person", as they're now doing in lectures and opinion pieces.) Later, they'll show up occasionally on sitcoms as the "goofy but harmless friend/neighbor/coworker. After that, they'll have recurring roles, where they will sometimes be 'victimized" by "bigoted and narrow minded people." In the not too distant future, using words like "grooming" and "pedophile" will be denounced as "hate speech."

These RINO’s are engaging in revisionist history.

The Homosexual marriage vote failed in every state (except Oregon, Minnesota, Maine). Even Californians voted NO to homo marriage.

It wasn’t until the Supreme Court with Anthony Kennedy swing vote, (even the Dread Pirate Roberts voted NO) somehow found that homosexuals have a constitutional right to marriage. It was NOT the “broad middle” that demanded homo marriage.
