NEW DELHI (AP) — An unusually early, record-shattering heat wave in India has reduced wheat yields, raising questions about how the country will balance its domestic needs with ambitions to increase exports and make up for shortfalls due to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Gigantic landfills in India’s capital New Delhi have caught fire in recent weeks. Schools in eastern Indian state Odisha have been shut for a week and in neighboring West Bengal, schools are stocking up on oral rehydration salts for kids. On Tuesday, Rajgarh, a city of over 1.5 million people in central India, was the country’s hottest, with daytime temperatures peaking at 46.5 degrees Celsius (114.08 Fahrenheit). Temperatures breached the 45 C (113 F) mark in nine other cities.

More good news on the global food supply
Eat more cows/beef.
Eat cows in India?
I grew up in a city in Western India. 115F was a common occurence in summer. And usually May was the hottest month in the year. Monsoon rains would arrive in June and cool down the temps.
10 molten salt nuclear reactor plants running a hundred desalinization plants in India would end the impact of drought there.

I didn’t grow up in India, but I did track weather and I specifically remember Delhi having the hottest weather, by far, in the world, at this time of year - and yes, over 110 was common...and that was when the planet was entering an ice age (so they said).
I think they’re just pushing this crap as part of their Global Warming agenda.
AP? Not a hint of climate change bias I’m sure.
I farmed in NW IL until age 47, continued to live on a farm until 62, and still follow legitimate farm news sources.
AP isn’t one of them.
You can almost smell it from here.
“10 molten salt nuclear reactor plants running a hundred desalinization plants in India would end the impact of drought there.”
Or keep buying, at a nice discount, all of the oil being freed up by Russia, and use that to take care of desalinization.
Too bad the same people who want WW3 in Ukraine don’t permit that option, at least in the Western US.
The Madras Famine Redux? That was some very bad stuff.
Yeah, I wonder if this report is just a media scam.
Maybe exaggerating effect on wheat, but no doubt above normal temps.

In my town in Western India, there was not even a drop of rain after the monsoon rains ended in September until next June. So I recall many heat waves in April-May. When I arrived in USA 62 years ago to work on masters degree in engineering, I was shocked to observe the hottest months in Iowa were July-August. Those months were much cooler than May in India.
Crops failing due to extreme weather bouts has been going on in every agricultural regions since agriculture began 15,000 years ago. This no more unusual than hurricanes visiting Florida where I live now, or tornadoes visiting Kansas or earthquakes visiting fault regions in CA.
All validation for my decision to grow my own food and prep.
The AP is full of crap. Everyone at the AP are insane leftists. The AP publishes nothing but FUD.
Adapt or die. 😃🍔
