Turkey, pork, and other Christmas day staples have all seen price spikes of around 20 per cent or more amid Britain’s inflation crisis. A traditional Christmas dinner is likely to be out of the financial reach of many this holiday season, with one trade union association reporting that the essential components of the meal have risen by over 20 per cent on average while wages have largely stagnated.

That’s delicious looking…
Food is up 100%, gas up 100%, electricity up 100% ,but the “official” inflation rate is only 7% because the cost of a yacht came down 2% and a computer chip, that isn’t even available to buy, got a little bit faster for the same price.
It don’t matter if we end up starving and eating grass to stay alive. The effin globalist RATS don’t give a chit! The American STUPID people will continue to vote for those demonic evil rats. Reelecting them to office and keeping them fat, happy and rich while our children starve.
We work with our local county food pantry. They deliver food to shut in’s. They are out of food. Donations had dropped significantly. I would expect that is the case all over the country.
How many ladies on FR remember making ‘Can Bread’???
A dark heavy bread that we baked inside a can from another product???
I haven’t made it in years-—just popped into my head.
Oh, both my Mom and Grandma made canned bread too! I haven’t seen it in years.
LOL! You’re making me hungry!
And to think, all of this is going to waste laying there on my Alabama highway...
I had a big red bag hanging on my front door this morning asking me to fill it with non-perishables for a food bank. There was a list of items they wanted: tuna, canned meats, beans, boxes of pasta, and toiletries. None could be past their best used by date. Funny I have things I use that are 2 years past their best used by date. I don’t buy canned beans or tuna anymore because they are too expensive. I buy the cheapest toiletries I can find so don’t look to me to fill your bag while our government is sending billions of dollars to fight a foreign war .
Walmart has been running an ad that says this year’s Thanksgiving dinner was cheaper than last year’s dinner.
that picture was so crazy, I had to look it up. Apparently it is real, although it verges on the Babylon Bee is weirdness. It is marketed as a dinner for gamers who don’t have any time for a sit-down dinner.

“The Christmas Tinner is back – a 3-course meal in a tin for those hardcore gamers that don’t want to leave their gaming chair on Christmas Day. And due to popular demand, alternative options are now available for vegan and vegetarian gamers too.”
I would like the recipe/how to on that if you could.
I make my own tortillas ( flour) and biscuits. Some good bread would be a nice change. Other than cornbread which I also make from scratch. Thanks!
My aunt used to make it all the time.
I think you have to use corn cans bc it’s some kind of lining that is in those, but I’m not sure or maybe it was the opposite.
I remember 20 years ago there was some kind of a sting where people were going out on Halloween to trick or treating for canned food for the poor, well they weren’t turning it into nobody but they did have a well stocked pantry and the police found out, sort of busted them and I guess the food went to a local food bank anyway.
