On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) stated that the United States can’t take an unlimited number of asylum seekers, even though “there are many in my party who don’t want to admit that,” and the U.S. will have to limit the number of people it grants asylum to, encourage applicants to do so from their own country, “and then, frankly, turn those who don’t go through that process back around.”
Murphy stated, “[H]ere’s the question, the question is can we accept an unlimited number of asylum seekers? The answer is no. And so while there are many in my party who don’t want to admit that, we are going to have to make a decision as to how many asylees we can take and then encourage those to be processed in their home country, and then, frankly, turn those who don’t go through that process back around. Now, that is a very difficult thing to do, because many of these people are in desperate straits, but we do just have to admit there is a limit to how many asylees we can take over the course of a given year.”

These senators from very small states make you wonder about the design of our government. So many of these small state senators are ultra-liberal.
A few heatseekers fired along the border could stop it. They’d be seeking “asylum” in their own countries.
Possibly. Now imagine that Republicans win the Senate and presidency in 2024. Imagine that they build the wall and allow unlimited migration from western and eastern Europe and very little from Mexico. Think the Dems would be screaming?
It’s funny (not) how Canadians fleeing Christian and vaccine oppression are having the immigration laws fully applied to them.
Since someone took a poll and realized the Dems are losing votes on this issue.
“because many of these people are in desperate straits” does not qualify for asylum. Not even close. That describe a good percentage of the world.
“Asylum Seekers” - well there is a nice euphemism. All of a sudden everyone who comes to the USA is an Asylum Seeker?
This is going to turn out to be a double-head-fake once the media starts “discussing” it.
