People who compliantly "took the jabs" like good little sheep are of course going to be very defensive about this. They will go to their deaths thinking they did the right thing.

It's human nature. Nobody wants to admit they were duped. This is why scam artists will never go out of business. People are too embarrassed and proud to admit they were wrong.
