Now the CHIPS Act Is Going To Subsidize Child Care Too
Reason ^ | February 27, 2023 | Eric Boehm

A federal effort to throw about $40 billion in taxpayer cash at semiconductor manufacturers is now going to double as a backdoor effort at expanding federal subsidies for child care.

According to The New York Times, the Commerce Department is set to unveil new rules on Tuesday that will effectively force recipients of the new federal semiconductor subsidies to "guarantee affordable, high-quality child care for workers who build or operate a plant." The Times reports that the new rules will not specify how recipients use the funding, though it could include everything from "building company child-care centers near construction sites or new plants" to "directly subsidizing workers' care costs."

We'll have to wait until the rules are made public to fully judge the situation, but given those options, it would seem like most companies will choose to simply pass along some of the subsidies to offset workers' child care costs. Which is great for those workers—provided they can actually find care.

The reason that child care is unaffordable for many families is ultimately a supply-side problem that's unlikely to be solved—and could actually be made worse—by subsidizing the demand side like this. And it's a supply-side problem that's largely the fault of governmental regulations like occupational licensing schemes (often with mandatory education requirements that have nothing to do with knowing how to take care of kids) and requirements regarding the number of staff per child.

Without repealing those supply-side constraints on the availability of child care, increased subsidies that flow to only a handful of workers will likely allow those families to afford care at the expense of others. The overall availability of child care won't increase and the subsidies will likely only inflate costs (as they always do).

The cost of childcare will go up, guaranteed. Just like higher education, once fedzilla starts subsidizing the cost of it, tuition skyrocketed. Same will happen here. Or, just like EV subsidies, the fed announces a big new EV subsidy for consumers.. and manufacturers instantly raise vehicle prices by the exact same amount of the subsidy.

Why are they concerned about child care, considering that they are fully committed to killing them before they are born?

Federal money always has had strings attached, but now they are becoming thicker by the day. The stench of a totalitarian state is growing stronger.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Patriots are reminded that constitutionally undefined, so-called "federal (state too) regulatory agencies" run by non-popularly-elected bureaucrats should not exist under the federal constitution, and probably most state constitutions imo.

"Article I, Section 1; All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives [and the Commerce Department, Federal Reserve, FDA, EPA, IRS, etc.?]."

What's going on is this imo. Post-17th Amendment ratification lawmakers found out that by establishing federal regulatory agencies that they did not have to take responsibility for stealing state powers to make unconstitutional federal laws that citizens must comply with.

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.

In other words, instead of risking losing their office for supporting unpopular legislation like the drafters of the Constitution had intended for them to do, lawmakers now simply let non-popularly elected government bureaucrats get away with stealing state powers to make unpopular edicts that citizens must comply with, the ultimate job security for corrupt, popularly elected lawmakers.

State and federal regulatory agencies have been instrumental in fostering the emergence of infamous career lawmakers imo, effectively wrongly weakening constitutionally enumerated voting power of ordinary qualified citizen voters as a consequence.

Patriots, the bottom line is this imo. What is your threshold of “pain” for peacefully stopping unconstitutionally big state and federal governments controlled by bully, constitutionally undefined political parties, from oppressing the people under their boots?

The inevitable remedy for ongoing, post-17A ratification, corrupt political party treason (imo)...

All MAGA patriots need to wake up their RINO federal and state lawmakers by making the following clear to them.

If they don’t publicly support either a resolution, or a Constitutional Convention, to effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by amending the Constitution to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A), doing so before the primary elections in 2024, that YOU will primary them.

If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.

With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.

In the meanwhile, I'm not holding my breath for significant MAGA legislation to appear in the first 100 days of new term for what may still prove to be another RINO-controlled House.

Trump will hopefully do another round of primarying RINOs for 2024 elections.

Shouldn’t the Chips Act require chip manufacturers to subsidize low income housing, full featured diversity hiring except for whites, needle stations, (illegal) migrant subsidies, and EV charging stations also?

No need to build actual chips, right?

Too easy.

Those that they allow to survive will need to be indoctrinated properly, which means the sooner you start filling their heads with mush, the dumber they eventually become, so eventually, you have even more stupid laborers to do your bidding.

It certainly isn’t rocket science.
