Tall grass? Dummmmmb. Tall grass is a home to rodents, snakes and all sorts of insects. During a drought it represents more of a fire hazard. And unless you want to use herbicides, tall grass promotes weed growth and unwanted trees.
The worst thing about it is it identifies a person as a leftist, someone too lazy to do anything at all and not really care about their living standards, just their devices, govt checks and drugs.
We have a small pasture we mow twice a year, when the grass is about 10 - 12 inches high. It’s a bearcat to mow, and the mice running from the mower is entertainment. There are numerous volunteer tree saplings also. And yes, snakes.
The expert on a gardening show I listen to says there are pros & cons to doing this. ‘No Mow May’ may help pollinators such as bees. But the downsides include having more ticks and mosquitoes because the lawn grew taller. You then must use more insecticides and treatments to kill those problems later in summer.
